Just curious what you guys think of guys who are on PrEP (taking HIV meds while neg to avoid becoming poz). I mean guys on PrEP can take a lot of risk without really suffering the consequences… Is that a good thing ('cause more guys can be piggy), or is it sorta seem like cheating?

I think it's great. Think of all the guys you meet online who chicken out before meeting...if you took away most of the fear of converting, you'll see less guys flaking.

I just wish it were affordable so I could use it.

Not sure if I would were I negative, but if you're not looking to be pozzed, it could, with the right monitoring, be a good idea. Good news I just found is that tenofovir has been reformulated to reduce its toxicity so maybe some of my Casssandra-like warnings about it will become redundant when the new Truvada comes on the market. Beyond that a load is a load is a load.

Protecting yourself is in no way cheating. One less reason for a guy not to fuck me.

That's a good way to put it, and I'm even going to take it on further. You're not only protecting yourself, but you are protecting everyone that you will have sex with later on as well.

I think a lot of them will not follow the dosage schedule and wind up poz.

It is more of a crutch for them to lean on than anything else.

Also it is NOT 100% effective even when the dosage schedule is followed.

That's the risk: it's harder even to remember to take preventative medicine than therapeutic medicine. I was in hospital when news of Truvada for PrEP came through and I asked the HIV team what they thought, and their replies were non-adherence ending in infection and resistant virus. But it proved that it can be done.

Not so sure what you mean by a crutch... But you have to look at the fact that it's reckoned in London condoms prevented 40% of potential infections in the late eighties. At best they're only 96% effective - about the same as having an undetectable viral load. Nothing is 100% effective in this game except of course for wanking in front of the video. Personally, much as I enjoy my porn collection I like to share it with my mates...

I think he means it helps guys get over their fears about taking loads. Neg bottoms are notorious about not going through with bareback hookups in my experience. So PrEP should help them get over those fears…

I would love to get rid of my fears of taking all cocks up my ass. Knowing that I may get all other std´s, but less likely get Hiv. I would definitely let guys tag my ass more and let them use me as the slut I long to be used as. I have had a couple of poz guys cream my hole, but I get scared afterwards and get all worked up until I come to terms with what I did and that it was hot and that it´s done, so after a while I search for another cock online to get up my hole and then get tested and just wait for my test results.

Resistance...It's a GOOD thing.

Bad joke in this context... unless you really want HIV and no treatment options. It's a nasty messy way to go.

If you're talking in a sexual context, of course it's a good thing: sex seems to improve when the bottom looks the top in the eye and says "fuckin' make me"

The approval studies for the drug only found resistance when the person had been hiv positive at the time of starting PrEP. Meaning, in my opinion, that a lot of the fears of resistance are unfounded...
