I was at the grocery store a saw a young guy that had BAREBACK imprinted in bold letters on his tee shirt. Do you think that is TMI for the general public? Would you dare do something like that?

I don't know if I would do something like that were I live but if I was out in a different city in a bar I might do that. It tells the locals what you are into without to much of a conversation, but preferred position should also be on it. So "Bareback" first then under it "Bottom, Top, Versatile, etc" definitely would tell someone what you are into for sure. Oink!

I have a two different BBRT t-shirts that I wear around Chicago, and some other bareback t-shirts as well. They are always good for some interesting looks, and they sometimes have been good for a hookup or two.

Care to share some pics of the t-shirts?

I'm also not sure that the general population would connect a T-shirt that only says bareback to unprotected sex, so I think you'd be fine.

I would have no problem wearing those shirts. I have always heard it pays to advertise.

BTW, my boyfriend and I have been talking about making/selling t-shirts for a while now. Looks like that may start later this summer. There will be ones with the rawTOP logo, ones with the Breeding Zone logo (which may get an update in the process), as well as some more generic ones. Some of them will be subtle, others will be a little humorous - or could be read two different ways.

Besides it sounding like a must have for my wardrobe, I'm thinking it has a side benefit. I gotta think that the more shirts, clothes or gear like you describe are seen around town the more they begin or help to normalize my sexual choice.

i have a lot of TIM tees, and i wear them often. i find that the message is clear to those who know what they're looknig at, and to anyone else it just looks like a gimme tee.

wore the 'meatpacker' to breakfast a while back and when i was waiting for the bathroom a beefy redhead came out of the kitchen and started talking to me about it. we ended up swapping numbers but haven't played yet.

i also got one from the cumunion guys last year. it features the head and torso of a man drenched in cum. its graphics are lovely and its message is unmistakeable. i save it for my infrequent nights out cruising bars. have gotten a few funny looks, no overt negative reactions and a coupla phone numbers while wearing it.

Right. The whole "would I wear this on the street?" question is in the front of my mind when I approach the t-shirt thing since they'll sell better if people will wear them on the street.

I bought a t-shirt from the Harlem Studio Museum a couple years ago that had "Black Is Beautiful" in black text on a black shirt. You had to be up close and the light had to be just right to see what it was saying - then it was pretty clear. Along those lines I'm also going to experiment with black light inks. You'll probably need to hand wash them, but the message will only show up when you're under black light - say at a bar or club.

The other way is to have double meanings. If you're wearing a t-shirt that says "Service Specialist" or "Don't Be So Negative" your straight friend will either think it's cute because they don't understand the meaning. But at a gay bar everyone will know what you're saying. Or a message that's so over the top that people think it's funny. My boyfriend thinks clothes with WHORE on them could actually sell really well and cross over to a straight market, etc. People already think gay guys are a bit slutty. Owning it with a WHORE t-shirt could be seen as funny/cute. The key there is to not be too specific. They don't want to think about exactly what you're doing to earn that label - but they think the general idea is edgy and hot.

Combining those ideas… Now imagine there's a big biohazard symbol in black light ink on a t-shirt that says "Don't Be So Negative"… Or the biohazard symbol could be black on black so it's not all that visible until you're up close.

i like the black light ink idea. how about one with 'raw' on the front and an arrow pointing to the crotch? it's companion piece would have 'raw' on the back with an arrow pointing to the ass.

OMG... I would totally love that t-shirt. i think it would be so great to look for neg chasers))))

I've got a t-shirt that says "Bareback" in binary. It takes a true geek to figure that one out! The idea of a T-shirt with a black light biohazard symbol sounds pretty cool.
