sinfuljock Posted September 12, 2014 Report Share Posted September 12, 2014 I had my first 3 month text since starting PrEP last early last week and it came back questionable positive (I don't think those are the exact word Dr used). He ran test again and it came back neg so he's saying it's a false positive. Has anyone else had a false positive? Either on PrEP or otherwise? The doctor's office told me I would have to wait an extra day on my results. The next day, they told me the first test came back inconclusive, so they had run it again. spermy71 Posted September 25, 2014 Report Share Posted September 25, 2014 I had this happen last year--not on PrEP yet, but I got a false-positive antibody test. It was a long week while they did a Western Blot and found me HIV-. I had syphilis, though. Apparently some diseases like the "French Pox" can cause false positives. Also apparently Malaria can cause this too, so they don't even use the antibody test in some areas of the world. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
