Very few studios then, Falcon was the biggest, and I imagined that although they were shooting porn where hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people would watch, that they stll clearly found hot guys to be in their movies. I knew one Falcon star back then, and he had his 'other' life in Denver when I knew him, and although everyone in our little gay community knew he was in porn, he still had a regular career... a life... outside of porn, and it was not escorting. No internet back then, so unless someone pointed it out, no one would really know he had done porn. He wasn't high up in any career, but still he had a good job. Now... my god, there is SO MUCH porn. I know that just in the US we have 300 million or so folks, but still... how in the heck do these studios find guys.. a LOT of guys... to do this? There are the true porn 'stars' - the Antonio Biaggi, Roccco, Armond, etc., but for every ONE of those, there are HUNDREDs, if not thousand of other guys. Where do these companies find these guys? Has anyone on here been in a porn shoot, like did just one for the hell of it? If so, were there any repurcussions? I've just always been facinated about how a guy can do porn, how they got into it, especially gay porn, and if they don't do it for a lilving, what is it like when they get back to the real world? I saw a documentary on straight porn and I guess with 18-19 year old girls, they run them through the system and pretty much toss them aside after less than 3 months. I'm wondering if gay porn works the same way? There are a lot of guys who want to do porn, mostly younger guys, but some older as well. I have a friend who shot a couple of scenes for a now defunct studio in the mid 2000's and then went back to the real world so to speak. There are a lot of guys who have done that, they just are not big names because they only did a shoot or two. In gay porn you have to have that look that studios want but also they want someone who is reliable. Guys who flake out and are no shows to shoots cost the studios money and with piracy budgets are much tighter so if a guy is flakey about showing up studios drop them like a hot potato. Getting a good scene from them is another story. Except for performers who manage their careers well, the money is not in porn. A lot of the guys do porn so they can escort or dance. That's where the money is for most performers. It's advertising to get their name out there. There are also a lot of guys who think it might be fun. Most only do a scene or two because it's a lot of work. That 15/20 minute scene takes hours to shoot and there is a lot of stop, change positions, and go. And just about every top uses Viagra to keep it hard. Then there is the drama from the performers...don't get me started! However, the parties were a lot of fun. Then you get to try your hand at porn but your not stuck with being forever recognized, which can be good but more often than not is probably not so good.
