sluttony Posted yesterday at 08:31 AM Report Posted yesterday at 08:31 AM Once again I am not sure there was anything worth downvoting in what I said, but @viking8x6 seems to do it a lot to me (called out before and then he removed the downvote). It was factual that there was nothing ironic in the post. It was factual that the response was self entitled. Perhaps reach out via PM and tell me why you've taken such a dislike to me and we can resolve it amicably. Or don't, and keep downvoting me. I don't mind either way.

Well I saw this post on YouTube the other night about a truck driver from the US who was going through Arkansas and when he stopped at a weigh station to have his load checked the attendant made the driver read out some statement in English and then afterwards the driver had to write out the same statement in English. Apparently this is becoming law now under the Orangeman administration. If you want to drive truck in the US you have to speak and write in English. Like I said I saw this on YouTube and it surprised me at the time, but after reading your reply I can honestly say...yes, I do indeed see the irony. As an American trucker with over 35+ years of driving experience, your claim that a commercial motor vehicle operator (a trucker) must speak and read English was a product of President Trump actions is false. The fact is that this “law” has been part of the U.S. code since 1939 when the Interstate Commerce Commission (aka: ICC) was formed. Later the ICC became the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (aka: FMCSA). The previous administrations have allowed anyone to secure a drivers license and drive a 80,000 pound (40 ton) vehicle that can kill. If you can’t read and communicate in English, you are both a hazard to yourself and others; the current President thankfully has put a stop to the free for all mentality and the sharp increase of property damage, injury, and senseless deaths by enforcing the current long-standing law that has existed well before any of us were born FMCSA s. 391.11(b)(2)… (2) Can read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records; [think before following links] https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-49/subtitle-B/chapter-III/subchapter-B/part-391 Think before you spout out trash as facts!!!

sluttony Posted 8 hours ago Report Posted 8 hours ago We talked about this in PM - you know that a non registered user can post as Guest (rightly or wrongly), so right now we have absolutely no way of knowing who may or may not be active on the site, just because they don't have a registered account. Also, shutting down conversations just because you don't like the tone of what's been said is a very slippery slope - that will drive more people away. The changes in rules a while ago culled users (note: I happen to agree with the changes, there is no criticism of them, but facts are facts) and by trying to censor people who are just responding to comments... well that will drive people away even more. And telling people not to respond, but only downvote is a form of censorship. Sorry but if I see something I want to respond to - even robustly - I will. If you don't want me to do that then feel free to remove my account, but you really need to stop this before it gets out of hand. Sorry but I want disparate views, robust responses that might actually help to (re)educate posters, or hopefully get them to review their stance - otherwise we're just living in an echo chamber where everyone agrees with whatever gets said and there are plenty of social media groups for that shit already. A downvote doesn't educate because posters then may have no way of knowing why they were downvoted - not everyone is being a purposeful troll, even if some are. But for those that are, the conversations tend to fade and die naturally as it becomes obvious. 1
