If indeed this is the flu, how long does it last?

I remember symptoms of fuck flu coming on about two weeks after the fuck that did it. My fuck flu lasted several weeks and was hell: massive night sweats leaving bed sheets dripping wet, sore throat, little energy. I understood what was happening. I had a good GP at respected clinic. I had network of mates (range of neg, unsure, poz detectable and poz undetectable) comfortable navigating poz stuff. I wasn’t exactly chasing but had been expecting it might happen – a few years embracing random and anon raw play. I knew I had to ride out the fuck flu and try to ease the symptoms as best I could. I didn’t feel like sex for couple months while recovering. No recurring illness or fuck flu since then. After the fuck flu passed I returned to enjoying good raw fucking. I have a respect for mates that experience similar fuck flu journey. I kinda regard fuck flu and turning poz as kind of like a coming-of-age / right-of-passage thing. If you going through fuck flu know that you are not alone in your experience. Seek out understanding and supportive mates. Get back to enjoying hot raw fucking when you ready.

I was sick for about a week. Not sure how long after exposure. I had been trying for about three months. Even though I knew I was going to get it I didn’t put my symptoms together with conversion.  Headache, some nausea, night sweats and general achy were some of my symptoms.

Never had a hint of fuck flu.  And initial infection was pretty mild, VL 11,000 and CD4 900.  And VL dropped without meds to 300.

I did not experience any flu symptoms at all. At the time I wasn’t hooking up much, so knew when I was exposed.

Strangely enough, I felt nothing and thought ….ok time to go get my blood test done for Canadian immigration, as part of the process for permanent residence. No symptoms, nothing…did the test, was told to come in by the clinic, and I thought that it was my Hep. B  flaring up. Nope….got to the front desk, and in front of other clients, was told -you know, you’re HIV? And that was how I found out. It was a Wednesday of Easter week…

By Maundy Thursday, my throat felt like razor blades, I had rashes around my torso. I tried to eat kippers, but the salt had me throwing up. Then, it was gone by the time my late hubs (we were together for about three years then) came back from visiting family in Florida for Easter, it was gone. 

Go get tested…you will know for sure.

First of all....if you are converting.....I hope your experience is what you hoped for.   My own conversion symptoms lasted about 15 days---from the first night sweat until I was largely symptom free.   A number of days were pretty bad, but not debilitating to the point of preventing work or other life's obligations.  And, other than a couple days, I remained sexually active the entire time.   At about day 5 I did go to a doc and that is when I tested POZ (not a surprise).

As you mentioned, everyone's experience is somewhat different.  But you should be nearing the point when you can test and be certain.
