There's a difference between having a job and letting minor things get a little messy - and having the place in a state of disrepair. I once went to a guy's place, only to find that he had cigarette butts strewn throughout his living room and on the floor of his kitchen, plus it looked (and smelled!) he hadn't emptied his cat's litter tray for two weeks.
