Sometimes I find taking my own pics is a real shit show. My selfies are hit or miss often focusing on areas I don't want to draw attention to or cutting out areas that I do. Does anyone have advice (besides turning back the clock 25 years) on how to get better pics? Does it take a willing camera man?

I find taking lots of pictures helps since once you get a chance to check you may find many are out of focus due to movement, shaking hands or trying to hold the phone at weird angles.

A cameraman helps. What also can help is a remote control, which allows you to position the phone in a stationary place, pose so that what you want to appear is showing on the screen, then trip the button on the remote. (Most smart phone cameras can be controlled by a generic wireless bluetooth remote, available for less than $10 online).

Finally: digital pictures don't cost, like film used to. Take a hundred. Even if you discard 98 of them, that's two possibles left over. Then another hundred. All it takes is time and patience.

Some digital cameras allow them to be controlled vi WiFi on your smartphone using an app, so u can see what the camera is seeing (even if you’re bent over, for example 😈) and also adjust focus, exposure and sometimes zoom.
