Recently I"ve had a couple of episodes that have lead me tho rethink my online presence.  On both A4A and Grindr had guys want money or they would sell my contact information to unnamed web site to get outed.   In general I don't worry, most are probably fakes, but has anyone else run into this at all.   I have removed any pic that showed face.  Iv'e got pics of me hooded and collared that I'm going to start using.

No it hasn’t happened to me. I just don’t show pics until I have started to talk with someone. I do fear something like that happening to me tho.

An older guy I do $4P had something like that happen to him and it totally freaked him out. He asked me how to handle it and I said no way you pay the guy as then he knows you're a mark and he'll keep hitting you up for more money. You have to call their bluff. That's what he did and it turned out OK, but yeah, lesson learned is you never put face pics where guys can see them unless its Insta or something where the pic disappears. Even then its no guarantee. That's why I don't show my ink or face in any pics. I had something similar happen to me when I was younger and a couple guys threatened to out me to my family unless I did what they wanted (it wasn't money). I took my chances and it turned out to be a bluff or they didn't follow through. Not gonna lie, it would have sucked massively if they did it. But yeah, it's a numbers game. They cycle through people until they find someone who caves, they aren't interested in bringing attention to themselves or causing trouble.

Hmm. I haven’t come across this one yet. I’m very liberal with my face on apps. I don’t think this’ll change that, but I’ll be it in mind and be prepared to call their bluff. Thanks.

@PARTYPIGBEAR - I think the concern some have is not that they are seen as a member, but rather that someone they know IRL has just seen the pics of their freshly fucked asshole and read their posts about how they will take any cock any time and “love to guzzle jizz”. It’s the way their online self-portrayal has the potential to alter the way people act toward them in person that is concerning, especially if that person knows them in a primarily non-sexual context.

It is also possible that identification could lead to unexpected or unwanted approaches for sexual contact by people who suddenly see the member as sexually open, available or even promiscuous, whom the member for whatever reason has no desire to fuck with.

This issue wouldn’t be an issue if we could all simply live as our genuine selves with nothing to hide. Then we wouldn’t even need to hide behind usernames. Unfortunately, our society is not yet so enlightened.

I did go ahead and respond, but privately. Respect is very important to me, and I needed to make you I showed you proper respect when responding.
Again, it means a lot you took time out of your life to respond. Look forward to, hopefully, future conversations.

EXTORTION, SCAMS, BLUFFS and hot air!

I've received e-mails that started out with the subject matter being my PASSWORD combination... although one I had long changed (maybe 5 years before?). The long and short (content) of the e-mail was a blackmail/extortion for something like $2,500 in bitcoins to be deposited in some convoluted way too alien for me.

The e-mail claimed to (have had) access to my computer, my webcam and my 'many incriminating and lewd videos'. It was claimed that "YOU HAVE 48 HOURS" to comply or else 'humiliating and embarrassing' material would be shared with any number of random people on my mailing list... "family, employers, members of your community". It went further to paint a dismal picture for a frightened fool falling for a scam or a real extortion.

"Imagine the SHAME and REPURCUSSIONS all this will have", and it went on to say "Some of your videos are really showing some strange proclivities". Now I have watched investigative journalism where predatory sweatshops in the Philippines had wretches 'not as cute as in the posed pictures' working hopeful sods across the world for con-schemes that would evolve into extortion and end with individuals shelling out fortunes to their tormenters and in some cases committing suicide...

This EXTORTION (attempt) on me was a cruder bluff as I quickly figured. For one, the long changed password. And I recall some huge security glitch with a major company I had done business with. MILLIONS of e-mail accounts had become compromised and it was expected that this information would be sold to crime syndicates in batches who would then each do whatever 'SCHTICK' is their racket. But I had PROMPTLY changed my password then... and here it popped up as a reminder from the Vanilla Ice Age! And then I had not used a webcam AT ALL in many years... because I had caught myself wasting too much time, JERKING and playing and chatting and webcamming when I had work to be done. So NO MORE! Cold turkey! Sure there were some videos and LOTS of pictures. But...

Truth be told, I almost felt like engaging with the BLACKMAILER (S) and begging them to PLEASE GO AHEAD on the threats and make me a reality porn-star. And if they could please do it for me FOR FREE! But FIRST I'd like them to consider if I could possibly sent them even better smut, SLEAZIER clips, my more recent 'upgrades' to the dark side...

But then I had plenty other shit on my plate that week. No catty fun with Nigerians and other unknown internet entities! And as I expected, my refusal to play hardball chicken paid off. 48 went by and nothing happened.., NO SHAME, NO FAME no frikkin Bitcoins taking cyber journeys!

Apologies for the necro, but I'd like to continue the discussion. Sorry to hear about those experiences you had on A4A and Grindr. It's always a good idea to be cautious and mindful of what you share online. It's great that you've taken steps to protect your privacy by removing any pictures that show your face and opting for more anonymous photos. If you’re interested in how to stop blackmail, you can contact specialists who will help you develop a long-term plan and protect yourself from future attacks. It's important to take these threats seriously and seek help if needed. Stay safe out there!

I've had 3 sexstortion attempts, each originating on MH.  I've stopped posting or otherwise sharing face pics on or through any App (if someone wants to see me, lets meet in public, Im an adult, I can handle being told "thanks, but we're not a good fit.")  I've learned that when I'm contacted and asked where I'm living (red flag, as it's clearly in my profile), they have location disabled on their profile (red flag), and their profile does not show up on the grid in the general distance their claimed location is from me (major red flag), when they ask specifically about my relationship status (clearly posted in my profile, red flag), and they attempt to move communication off App, where identifying information is more likely to be found or is often associated with traditional social media (huge red flag).  I now report these kinds of behaviors as suspected sexstortion to the respective App moderators.  Sexstortion is scary but don't give in or pay out.

There are more and more news stories and headlines of this happening. I am pleased to see that this community is able to provide support and encouragement on how to protect ones self online.

It is more and more important to spot the "red flags" and not to let your guard down. My concern is that sometimes when I am horny and possibly intoxicated - I am prone to let my guard down in a desire to "get that top". This is a great reminder to always be vigilant.

I find that women and men under the age of 30 want P4P. That's why I don't mess with men or women under the age of 40. Too old for that shit. Older men and women know what the fuck they want and go after it. And I'm always available for their pleasures.
