jb2000 Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 Anyone know with blood test for hiv/std whether they'll be looking for drugs as well? thanks!
JoshLandaleXXX Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 I can only speak for the UK but no.. they only look for what they need to look for. The swabs are sent off for culture analysis, and the bloods/urine go to the labs for testing. They don't look for anything other than STD's.
Leather69 Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 I'm fairly certain that they only test for what your doctor requests. I'm in brisbane, and always have a look at the pathology request form. Besides it's between you and your doctor - when in doubt ask him/her.
jb2000 Posted April 27, 2011 Author Report Posted April 27, 2011 Thank you both for the reply! I'd imagined they have to let you know/declare beforehand otherwise, wouldn't they? Anyway, it's good to clear that up...thanks again
cageyone Posted December 10, 2012 Report Posted December 10, 2012 They stealth tested me without my permission. In fact I told them NO!!! They can do whatever they want with it once you let them swab you or jab you with a needle. Sorry to burst the bubble.
Alphapig Posted December 10, 2012 Report Posted December 10, 2012 Any testing in UK at least is done by informed consent; especially sexual health related ones, any other tests done would potentially lead to criminial charges against the person completing the test.
bjbottom Posted December 10, 2012 Report Posted December 10, 2012 I was tested for HIV/STDs and drugs without my permission in the US in 1992 but special circumstances existed. I pulled out an IV in the emergency room after being brought in for an overdose. The HIV/STD testing was due to my blood getting on medical personnel, and the drug testing was because I slipped into a coma and they needed to know what I was on to provide the correct treatment.
bbzh Posted December 10, 2012 Report Posted December 10, 2012 Unfortunately the gap between what is legal and what actually occurs is wider than we'd like to think. Expect the worst and hope for the best.
