The swabs are sent off for culture analysis, and the bloods/urine go to the labs for testing. They don't look for anything other than STD's. I'm in brisbane, and always have a look at the pathology request form. Besides it's between you and your doctor - when in doubt ask him/her. bjbottom Posted December 10, 2012 Report Share Posted December 10, 2012 I was tested for HIV/STDs and drugs without my permission in the US in 1992 but special circumstances existed. I pulled out an IV in the emergency room after being brought in for an overdose. The HIV/STD testing was due to my blood getting on medical personnel, and the drug testing was because I slipped into a coma and they needed to know what I was on to provide the correct treatment.
