Which antibiotics i need to treat chlamidya?

I can also recommend the azithromycin approach. You take 1g (which is usually 2 pills 500mg each) and that's it. Success rate is slightly less good as with doxy but still high enough to be effective in most cases. Usually the lab should then test for lgv variant, which, if positive is another story then anyway. 
With Doxy I find it annoying that one cannot take for instance milk along with it due to impact on doxy absorbtion by the body which puts me for a whole week on timing my coffee right (annoying) plus the higher sensibility for UV exposure when going into the sun. 

Somehow in my country my doc never told me about this and always came along with doxy. Only after doing research myself and asking he confimed, that it is indeed also an option and provided me a prescription for azithromycin. For me it is hard to understand, as they should chose the easiest way for the patient and with azithromycin adherence will be a 100% if you only need one dose compared to a whole week with two times a day, no alcohol during that time etc.

One reason for promoting the use of doxycycline over azithromycin is that doxy has far fewer drug interactions in far fewer people. Azithromycin normally shouldn't be taken by people who take statins (millions do, for cholesterol), blood thinners, certain HIV medications, certain antidepressants, certain antipsychotics, certain heart medications... the list goes on and on. It's also not recommended for anyone with kidney or liver problems or diabetes.

Doxycycline also a very old, well-established antibiotic that's dirt cheap to manufacture. Yes, you do have to take it for several days, and avoid certain things like sun and alcohol, but those are not always the primary concern.
