tallslenderguy Posted August 19, 2025 Report Posted August 19, 2025 Great discussion. i'm a critical care nurse with a great deal of education on reversing/preventing disease process through diet. A large area of study right now is studying and mapping the gut microbiome. Simply put, humans live in symbiosis with bacteria. We have 10x more bacteria living in our gut than we have cells that compose our entire body (which may call into question for some: who's the host? lol). Study of diet because what we eat is the biggest influence of what affects the gut microbiome, and the gut microbiome in turn creates metabolites that either benefit or harm us. It's a complex topic science is only on the cusp of unraveling. DoxyPEP is and antibiotic (doxycycline) and antibiotics kill bacteria indiscriminately, some more than others. i'm not arguing for or against taking DoxyPEP, just want to add to information about it. It's not a panacea, it absolutely has side effects for anyone taking it, any antibiotic does. "Antibiotic use has become problematic because it unintentionally upsets the delicate equilibrium of the human gut microbiota. Antibiotics, especially broad-spectrum ones, that were once regarded as life-saving treatments for bacterial infections instead indiscriminately destroy the good bacteria that are essential for preserving gut health in addition to their target pathogens. Antibiotic-induced gut dysbiosis, the term for this disturbance, sets off a series of adverse reactions that negatively impact the gut microbiome, resulting in a decline in microbial diversity and the creation of an environment that is favourable to the establishment of strains that are resistant to antibiotics. Antibiotic exposure has wide-ranging effects from prenatal to adulthood; research has shown long-term effects include increased risk of antibiotic resistance, obesity, allergies, asthma, and altered metabolic processes. This thorough investigation emphasises the critical need for a more sophisticated knowledge of the effects of antibiotic therapy on the gut microbiota and the necessity of implementing all-encompassing solutions that reduce its detrimental effects and protect human healththroughout life." erk Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago I've been on Doxy for about two years in Australia. For the locals that have been getting stuffed around with the 7 dose max on the PBS make sure you ask for a private script and it will cover you for 2 repeats of 28. Anyway, the only thing I've caught since taking it was the one time I ran out, so successful for me I'd say. I'll generally hit the sauna on Thursday and Saturday night and take a dose as I'm getting in the car on Saturday, so 48ish hours from first load and will push it out another day if I'm going in for Sunday lunch! Not unusual to fuck between 6 and 10 in the darkroom, so the risk is up there. My gp mentioned if taking it as pre exposure on holidays to take it like you would for malaria, 100mg 12 hours apart daily, not the 200 single dose that I've seen people mentioning. Happy slutting folks! 1 Quote
