So Monday I got a text from a guy off Grindr; which I hate) Said he was 26 hung good looking and wanted to fuck He sent a picture which was sort of blurry but I said what the heck. I invited him over

When he showed up my first impression was who are you!

He was 26 maybe 50 years ago.

Hr looked nothing like the picture

When I asked him why he lied ,he said I did not think you would mind

Please be honest No one is so desperate as to accept a loyal fake. Was he hung well I did not know or care

I've found that people lie or catfish for all kinds of reasons. I've found a few who I hooked up with before lie because they were asked to leave the last time and they hope I don't remember.  I always do.  I'm good with names but excellent with faces.  Amazingly several people who stole from me have tried different names and pix. Others are just lonely unable to adjust to a new normal.  One guy sent pix of him maybe a decade old.  He was a hotie back then.  Well, he asked to be met outside the building and the first thing to exit the taxi was his red stick.  He had a detached retina and was legally blind--and much older.   Well educated, fascinating guy, great conversationalist, but I was still pissed off at him.  We talked but didn't fuck. Separately,  two other guys showed up with leg braces, a far cry from the pix they sent.  (Each one of them ripped me off .) They both also fall into the category of hoping you're too polite or sympathetic to say anything. I try to be compassionate, don't always succeed, but I do thank God that I've never had the need or desperation to catfish.

Someone wants referred to Grindr as the world largest collection of 10-year-old pictures.  I’d say more like 15 or 20 year-old pictures., My taste are sufficiently egalitarian age is not really on my list of factors consider.  Weight, the other hand….

Or mistaking me for a taxi or an ATM. If you really want to hook up, have a car or an Uber account, because I am sure as fuck not gonna come and pick you up and take you home, and I am sure as fuck not going to cash app you money for gas or anything else.

I tend to go the other way and ask “I’m a stocky bear , is that your thing “ ?
it just avoids wasting time.

So you didn't get to see/feel if he was 'hung' too?

I think guys like that are working on the hope you will be too horny to turn them away. What gets me is that they are also the same guys who act like you’re the jerk when you reject them.

I get it. It’s unfortunate, but there are a lot of catfish out there. Those are the ones who quit chatting with you when it gets to the point of hooking up.

but I’ve never understood the concept behind lying, and then the person actually showing up. As soon as I open the door, I’m going to see the real person. My taste in men are varied. I have a lot of diversity in the guys I fuck. I’ve been told many times that “I didn’t think you would be into me.” As sexual attraction for me is not physical. But if a person lies, it’s a huge turn off.

On the other hand, if they cruised woods at night or darkrooms they might get lucky 😄 😛

Honestly, there are so many younger guys out there that are into daddies and granddaddies. At 60 I get the kind of hot young guys propositioning me that would never have given me the time of day when I was younger and cuter. Thank goodness for unresolved daddy issues. 🤣

Because lying has been an acceptable practice in the gay community.

Sadly, lying has just become an acceptable practice on many levels of society and many different societies

We've painted ourselves into this so it's our job to find our path out.

EVERY site requires physical / health / other attributes (or "ASK ME" type responses) and nothing else, often with the ability to choose only one thing.  There's a thread on here about "are there more bottoms than tops" but on any given night of the week, I might feel one way or the other, but I'm not updating my profile on BBRT to reflect it.  We're then left with some freeform box of text to talk about who we might really be.  Is it a lie to say that I'm a "vers bottom" when I'm exploring topping?  Is there "aspiring top" that would encourage someone to take the chance that it might not be great?

So, the situation we might create is you're a 62-year-old, healthy, lived an exceptional life and just ran a marathon, can fuck like you've never been fucked before, love slutty 30-year-old bottoms, you look like you're a million bucks.   He's honest so ranks himself as "average" on body type.  His dick is thick and awesome, but he calls it a "6'" and average.  The 30-year-old bottom would have gotten the fuck of his life, had a great time, but at face value would have seen this "honesty" as "not my type."

Imagine if I was the 30-year-old bottom and I was really wanting to experiment with being a top.

Are we encouraging honesty?  And if we can't say yes, then we probably aren't.
