I’m not sure I’ll have the same POV as everyone else since I tend to hate toys, but always start off tight.
That said, I have several sets of these and they’ve been put to several sets of uses by several tops.

1. You can use them progressively to stretch and loosen up. Usually, you buy a set in multiple sizes for this. It makes for a stepwise progression and alternative to a speculum or other stretcher.

2. You can also use them if you want to stay open for pouring in liquids (yeah, the entire list of things you can pour in). They also sell them with plugs. 

3. If your lips tend to get inflamed or your partner needs you to be a lot looser, you can use them to eliminate the friction.

4. You can also use them to practice getting looser if you need it.

5. These will stay in place and continue to stretch you while they are in.

Just be aware that a size much larger than you are ready for will hurt like hell. You need to use lube to put it in and and you won’t feel your partner entering your hole (imagine a really, really, really thick condom).

I’m thinking of this actually. Used a couple of hollowed plugs in recent times.  Have to say, awesome for holding the hole open and taking piss, as well as keeping the hole well stretched.  Have managed to keep one in place for 6hr, and loved the sensation of having it in place as I wandered about the house.

So, I've used since (but don't yet own) and I like it for all the reasons listed above - holding you open, taking on fluids, etc.  I don't think it's quite as worth it if you don't have multiple dicks or pissloads coming and if it's just one dude, would prefer the raw dick.  For loads/piss to stay in with it inside, the bottom needs to stay ass up the hole time.

If you want to level up, they also make metal grommets.  I had one very similar to this.  If you're working on stretching, this delivers.  It's intense though.  For the top, I think the silicone is better, though, because you do get some wrapping around your dick.  (I no longer have this because I'm nearly certain a bottom left with it still inside without realizing it).

I also had a metal buttplug with a removable screw out center.  I didn't like it much.  The screw out interior was narrow and not meant for a dick, but rather, for you to attach your shower douche.  Try douching with that thing once and you'll go back to just using it as a buttplug.  With very little ability for water to escape, even at low pressure, you end up filling up your guts with water which takes it's time coming out...at unpredictable intervals...(thank god I was well prepared, so it was more like I had a self-lubricating hole for the rest of the sesh, but I don't advise.)
