You don't "deserve it." STIs happen. Don't shame yourself and do not let others shame you for getting one.

Also, everyone needs to remember that people often do not know they have syphilis. You don't always get the classic lesion. That may be what happened to you. Or you simply didn't notice the lesion.

This is why everyone who is slutty should be getting tested for STIs every three or four months. You should also talk to your doctor about DoxyPEP (which is antibiotics you take prophylactically like PREP).

You need to get a reflex confirmation with your Syphilis test every time you test after having it once. The reflex will confirm whether or not this positive result is a new infection.

Great additional info.

Interesting.  Something we might try if we have to.  I'm immune to poison ivy.  Maybe it just got tired of trying???  LOL  Still I wear gloves and do wash up when I come inside.  I wonder if that technique would apply to shingles (should that occur)?

Sodi Bicarb bathers or washes, depending on severity blisters or location. In these "modern" times the medical cohort consider this is an "old wives tale". Tale or not, IT WORKS, for anything from Herpes, Shingles, Chicken Pox, bee or ant stings, mosquitos, sand flies or Poison Ivy etc.

Regular testing & it might be a good idea to remember that Stage 4 Syphilis (occurring many years later) is horrendous. Effects MANY BODY SYSTEMS & brain involvement is not something any sufferer or family wants to deal with. Stage 4 is incurable & side effects are NOT REVERSIBLE.

GET REGULAR TESTING!!!

I caught Syphilis from a hands job. I wasn't very sexually active and there was one anonymous hook up in the dark. I wasn’t really into him so no oral or anal. I discovered it through routine testing at my annual Dr visit. Id been tested just a month before.  I did notice an odd sore on my hand later. My dr said it is possible to get it from contact but it’s very rare. I guess I'm a statistic.

The treatment for me was brutal because I’m allergic to penicillin so they gave me a wicked antibiotic that tore my stomach up for a week.
