Unfortunately the Catholic guilt thing is still big here, particularly among older men (not ancient, anyone who grew up in the 80s or before). And it’s a small place with few degrees of separation between people and word travels fast so even younger guys have a level of discretion you don’t find in bigger cities and countries. Guys are more timid about joining in on this type of sex, particularly if cameras are involved or big groups where they might end up knowing somebody. That probably doesn’t apply to you outside your old Mormon circle, in which case enjoy that and run with it! 

I found the religious and cultural angle interesting, having moved from and still frequently traveled to more religious and culturally conservative areas to Portland which is one of the most politically liberal and least religious cities in the US. Group sex and exhibitionism really aren't a thing in Portland, they won't even watch let alone join in. They readily accept people going out in public dressed in sexual fetish gear that would not fly very many places. Guys will walk other guys through a park wearing a dog mask on a leash through a public park in broad daylight and no one will bat an eye. We also have heavy promotion of hetero normative gay monogamous relationships, but will ignore and slut shame anyone who even dares to admit they are looking to hookup for a casual fuck in a bathhouse or anywhere else gay men typically hookup. Sexual preferences or even an indication that you want to fuck are mostly verboten on the hookup apps. There is more to it than just the cultural and religious aspects. I can easily find willing partners to play when I'm working in predominantly Mormon Utah or in the deeply religious towns in the Midwest (like the area I grew up in), as well as liberal and less religious cities like LA or Palm Springs, that are impossible to find in the PNW or on up into Canada along the Pacific Coast.

I've been trying to understand it for almost 2 decades, and still don't have a clue what makes some regions more sex averse than others.

I think it is adequate to understand that sexual openness isn't common across the globe much less your community.  More than regions being sex averse, many individuals in your same town are.  Social norms around the world have always varied.  Shoot sometimes they vary quite a bit from one town to another.

I'd say you're among the most fortunate of cumdumps, in that you found (or were found) by a man that sensed your craving, realized who and what you really are, and simply made it possible for you to become that man.  Many have to work much harder to figure out how to make their dreams come true. I would add that the implied connection to a religious belief-system is common for many men, but when push comes to shove, the opaqueness of those strictures becomes apparent easily, once we apply our serious thought to the issue.

To those who live in more restrictive areas, it might be up to you to advance the possibilities for other, more repressed rawmen.  If you can possibly manage it, why not start a group of men dedicated to pigsex in your area?  Start small - maybe a handful of guys - word will spread, and more will turn up.  Tell the attendee's to tell other guys they know.  Once we taste the sweetness of sating our lusts (however temporarily), the impetus is already there. For men like us, there's hardly a bigger thrill than sharing ourselves with those just like us.
