I'm probably in the minority here, but even as someone with many years of experience playing both Dom and Sub roles (on the BDSM fetish scene), to me, its a negative / derogatory word designed to upset and insult.

I'm gay, but will also tolerate the clinical / old fashioned term - homosexual, but not faggot; pussy; fairy; queer; pansy; cunt or similar perjorative terminology.

I would not play with anyone that referred to me that way, or vice versa. There are plenty of other ways to refer to your playmate when you are in the dom role.
