We’re not taking computers, just iPhones and all browsers on iPhone have Safari as their base. So things like Brave aren’t an option. BTW… all of my sites will throw an error and refuse to work in a man-in-the-middle scenario. I’ve had users complain that the site wasn’t working and the culprit was a corporate firewall doing what you describe.

VPNs are a hot topic lately, so I figured I’d start a thread where they could be discussed. I’m headed to China in a few weeks. It’ll be interesting to see what I can and can’t access without a VPN and how well the VPNs work. China is at the top of their game playing whack-a-mole with VPNs, so I’m thinking what works in China should work in slightly less restrictive locations. Anyway, the three I’ll be trying are: ExpressVPN, $13/mo, but comes with a 1GB eSIM which should be useful. Historically this has been the best VPN for China, but lately there have been reports of issues. Mullvad, €5/mo ($5.83), has a stellar reputation for privacy. V1VPN, $6/mo, Europe-based but targeted to work in China. My theory is China focuses on the major VPNs, so I’m hoping this one is somewhat off their radar. When I’m back I’ll let you know my thoughts on each.

Yes, the language on that page needs tweaking now that I’m sending people to it for reasons other than that their country wants to imprison or kill them. (The UK just wants to imprison me…)

@sluttony - assuming the devices themselves aren’t compromised, the only way I know for governments to break the encryption is to run a proxy firewall like China does. This site will break and be nonfunctional if it encounters that scenario as some users have reported when trying to hit the site from inside a corporate firewall. And VPNs get around proxy firewalls. Which then means the government has to ban VPN apps and block the IPs when it identifies them. I’m headed to China in the next few months and there’s a lot of discussion among tourists as to which VPNs work and making sure they’re installed before landing in the country. There’s also eSIM cards that somehow get around the firewall, but I’m suspicious of them. I feel like the Chinese government may be giving tourists a rope and letting them hang themselves with it.

Thanks guys for confirming that the block is working.

South Dakota has now been blocked. Curiously their law doesn't have an exemption for social media…
-
The UK should now be blocked. Let me know if you're in the UK and seeing this without a VPN…

Most of the states have taken the approach of letting civilians sue the sites for “harm” to their kid. But some have gone further and are more draconian.
-
Ireland is a completely different country, so no. The reason some states are affected which shouldn’t be is because states sometimes share IPs. Countries don’t share IPs AFAIK. Companies that are registered abroad and have no business presence in the US often ignore US law just as I ignore laws in places like Uganda (though I do block Uganda).

The Supreme Court ruled a few days ago in support of Texas’ age verification law. This means that all the legal challenges of AV laws are basically dead. Age verification will continue and may get worse. In reading the commentary on a porn industry discussion board it seems SCOTUS has created a distinction between “obscenity” and “obscene for children”. That’s a big problem. All conservative states have to do now is make laws of what they think is harmfully obscene for kids and all sorts of content can be restricted - such as all LGBT content. Others in the industry think a federal AV law is next. At that point I’ll need to block the entire US. And with the UK being blocked soon - that would be an existential crisis for the site. There’s some debate in the industry as to whether the <33% rule (that protects social media) will stand with the new “obscene for children” concept - if it’s obscene how can it ever be OK? If you’ve voted Republican in the past 10 years - all of this is on you…

The site is hosted in Detroit. Choose a VPN location near there to have the lowest latency.

If there's one group of you who's the biggest pain in the ass - it's exposure fetish guys… So, going forward, all exposure fetish content must be posted in the new Exposure Fetish section… https://breeding.zone/forum/445-exposure-fetish/ The section is only visible to logged in members (not Google). Read the pinned post in the section before posting.

To be clear - I'm blocking the UK under duress. You are very welcome here. But the government that you (plural) elected is forcing me to block your country. That is an issue on your end - not on mine. Be mad at your politicians and fellow citizens for voting them into power.
