Hey also going to folsom this year. Also first visit to Berlin ? This sounds like such a basic question but the pig party on the sat says fetish only. So do people arrive in their normal clothes and then get change into their fetish gear? Or are they actually leaving their hotel apartment in their leather harness or whatever and travelling amongst 'normal' people wearing this?! Cheers Neil

Hi. Does being on prep affect hiv tests? Just wondering if if might suppress levels of the virus to the extent you could get a false negative result.

If you decided to come off prep how long would you take it after your last exposure? I've seen some studies that say 28 days but then the prep on demand protocols only seem to recommend to take it for 24 - 48 hours after last exposure.

Is there a reason not to double dose? Is it the side effects? I found this study that showed my 4 days of protection will be pretty comparable to the usual 7 days (97 to 98% reduction in risk): According to levels of drug detected in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), and comparisons of those results to drug levels estimated in previous research to correspond to varying degrees of protection against HIV, one day on PrEP led to a 75 to 91 risk reduction, three days meant a 95 to 97 percent risk reduction, and five and seven days translated to a 98 to 99 percent risk reduction. The presumed risk reduction stayed higher than 90 percent for seven days after the last dose.

Have had prep sitting around for weeks but never used until now. Am off on a last minute hol to gran Canaria this sat and started taking prep yesterday (wed). I understand this isn't the full 7 days required for prep so have been taking double dose a day. Is there any benefit to this? the prep on demand studies use an initial double dose so i figure there must be some benefit. I'll have 4 days double dose by the time i hit the clubs on sat and plan to take continue to take for a week after i get home. what would you estimate my protection at - 90%?

Apologies for cross posting this as i also mentioned this in another thread about hiv risks from anal fingering. Its a prep discussion so posting it here in the hope of lots of feedback. I had a hiv test today and the chap doing it mentioned prep. He specifically said if you take a double dose of prep 8 hours prior to sex you are protected. I had previously had understood you need to take it a few days before regularly to build up immunity. I got the 8 hour info from the guy testing me at the Terence Higgins trust. This charity is at the forefront of hiv in the uk so would expect them to be very knowledgeable and up to date with their knowledge. Anyone have info on this? Is this double dose 8 hours before as good as regularly taking single doses?

Got the all clear today. Phew. Interestingly the guy who did the test spoke of prep - he said one double dose 8 hours before sex protects against HIV. I thought it was something you had to take at least a couple of days before sex to build up immunity. Has anyone else heard this? Does anyone know what percentage protection it gives to do this 8 hour prior double dosage? I know condoms are not totally 100% and just wondering how they compare to each other or indeed taking it regularly at least a few days before sex. -

Hi long time lurker. My partner and i recently went to a dark room for the first time (the cellar in gran canaria - naked night). In the dark room about 5 guys stuck their fingers up my arse which i found horny (not ready to fully bb). Then why guy tried to enter me but i said no. He probably got the tip in. What are the hiv risks for this? The guys could easily have had cum or precum on their fingers. I will get tested (assume i have to wait 4 weeks). Once prep is available on the nhs in England will consider fully bbing.
