nastybottom Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 Whether it be a gay bar, adult bookstore w/ arcade, bath house, or something similar? I've thought about it a lot, mostly out of frustration, because the hookup places in my city are so lame! The downside is I would have to work when I really want to play!
BiAggieGuy Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 If I had more free time, I think it'd be fun to run an escort business, but alas, it seems about every few months, one around here gets busted by the damn cops. I knew a few buddies in college who escorted, one gay and one straight. They made good money doing it, but since I had grown up in town, I knew a lot of people where as they moved here for school; I didn't really want my personal life all over the place. I try it a few times, but it wasn't all that interesting, but like they said; sometimes it really is just "escorting" where others you get a lot of extra benefits.
Guest Matias47 Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 I'd like to open a bath house nearer to me. (San Gabriel Valley in CA) all the bh's in the LA Area area 20 miles plus from where I am and the cruise areas are just as bad. And smetimes I'm just not up for the drive. I doubt I'd have the time to put into the business, though.
rawversjock Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 i wan to open a bookstore with bathhouse attached 1
powerbottom64 Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 I would love to own one of the gay resorts in Palm Springs. I am surprised there aren't more resorts like those around the country, especially in warmer areas.
fuckboy20 Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 I know someone who thought about doing it and even talked to people but the costs would have been way too much. We did know a local gay bar near us that was open for two years. Thought about buying it but the cost was just too expensive. Its now a diner But I know sometimes when men travel they sometimes think "Oh this would make a great location for "bath house" "sex club" "bar" "strip club" "porn shop" (or insert whatever). I have sort of thought about working at a strip club..I mean sex club. I don't know about owning one. Doing any kind of business would be hard.
PhoenixGeoff Posted April 26, 2012 Report Posted April 26, 2012 I've thought about it, most seriously about running a bar, but also considered other types of businesses. Here's why I don't: 1) Whenever I've thought about running a place, it's been in the context of wanting a bar like there used to be back in the day when I first came out. Well, between far greater government and police intrusions (back rooms are a thing of the past in most cities) and the Internet, which has turned cruising into a lost art, and bourgeois values creeping into the gay community, I don't think it's possible to run the kind of place I would like to run. 2) The problem with running an adult business is that it's a business. I think it's a fine thing to patronize such places, and it's also a fine thing to work on the fringes of them. But once it's a business, you're no longer doing it just for fun.
ProBonerNY Posted April 26, 2012 Report Posted April 26, 2012 Dream of opening a strictly bareback guesthouse/motel/hotel...no wardrobe needed. Otherwise a BB porno photography/film studio 1 1
calrockxxx Posted April 26, 2012 Report Posted April 26, 2012 Local laws make it really hard to open these kinds of businesses in lots of places. Even shooting porn videos is starting to get trickier as cities and states try to enforce work safety rules (California is doing this and it's driving production out of state). Even trying to throw a sex party in a private club is risky in lots of places (the Cumunion guys have lots of stories!). There are plenty of independent porn producers who will tell you it's fun in the beginning but it's not as much fun when you're trying to live off the income and run it as a business rather than a hobby. I've tried to get statistics on the size of the porn market, but no analysts track it so it's all hearsay. No one really knows how much the gay porn industry pulls in each year, and the studios aren't very willing to talk about it. But if you have a vision, go for it! There are plenty of niches yet to be filled! 1
HungLatinDom Posted April 26, 2012 Report Posted April 26, 2012 I rent my spare room, sometimes I fuck my guests. Not really a business, more like a bit of money on the side.
Guest ff-whole Posted April 27, 2012 Report Posted April 27, 2012 I thought of escorting, but I wouldn't know where to start really... How do you get our clients...? I am on Adam 4 Adam and even then I don't get any tourist to contact me when they come down for holidays... I live in Bonaire, Dutch Caribbeans - Diving Island here so I suspect there must be a lot of bears and muscle jocks coming down... I even advertised on this place at the regional hookup forums... zilch, nada, niente...
pigskintop Posted April 27, 2012 Report Posted April 27, 2012 Great postings. I'd love to open up a great man business. I'd definitely visit any of your hot places
HungLatinDom Posted December 23, 2012 Report Posted December 23, 2012 I've been thinking of renting another apartment and renting my whole current apartment
Guest Posted December 23, 2012 Report Posted December 23, 2012 I would love to find a few fellow bb'ers in Silicon Valley to go in on a shared apartment space somewhere, that we all could use at leisure, and monthly have a hot group fuck session together. It'd be sort of like a cooperative, we'd all be responsible for keeping it clean, but could use it as a place to host our hot fucks and orgies. That's the hardest part of meeting dudes here is the hosting/travel situation. I'd probably get fucked/or fuck daily if i had my own space. Rent is ridiculously expensive here, so the idea of getting my own separate play place isn't really possible...but to get other like-minded dudes together to pay a few hundreds a month would be really great.
