Hey!

I just stumbled upon your thread, I have HPV myself, had anal warts surgically removed about 10 days ago, going to the toilet is still a real pain and I kind of feel sore all the time (and not the good kind).

It can take multiple treatments to get rid of them apparently, I can't really tell but I feel as though I have already one coming back, not really looking forward to it.

According to my doc though, you can have it for a long time before warts show up (if they show up at all), best bet is to do the best you can for your immune system (sleep well, no smoking, etc) even though it is hard to do.

I really feel for your pain with the anal warts treatment but I applaud you for doing it. You wouldn't believe how many men ignore it, then spread it. And the warts can develop into much more serious growths given the chance. I've never had surgical removal, both times i had them burned of with an acid called Pedopholine. You talk about having a sore ass for a week. Man that burns. And you are right, you have to have the treatment 3-6 times depending on the sizes. But you gotta man up and get it done. And then learn to feel that texture that doesn't feel right and if you think a man has warts, back away. Do not let someone shove warts up your ass.

Man it's been just over 10 days since the surgery and I'm starting to have this crazy itch and I'm pretty sure I can feel a new one already back there it's really depressing, that surgery put me out for a week I'm really not looking forward to it again.

How was your ass after treatment? Any scars?

I guess the guy couldn't just burn them off because I had some inside as well.

I have had them as well... I agree with wood, it is just there in nearly everyone. Ditto with Herpes (the source of all those cold sores us dupes in the US get to enjoy hearing about on TV commercials). For me they froze the warts off. One outbreak of them about 20 years ago which took 3 or 4 retreatments, and another a year ago which healed after one time. Herpes for me controlled with daily acyclovir. Been years since an outbreak...

I am unfamiliar with HPV vaccine. Thought that was only for teen girls (maybe myopia of local press)?

You know if you think about it we could all qualify for biohaz tats...

Thank you so much for the advice guys. But here's an update- so I've been clear and healthy. My boyfriend, however, has another bump/wart on his cock. It hasn't grown or decreased in size. We still have sex bareback and despite that I've been clear. I eat healthy and all.

My boyfriend on the other hand- not so much. He's gained weight and he doesn't eat healthy at all. The size of the wart hasn't increased or decreased as such nor has it spread elsewhere. It's just there. That's it.

Any advice on what this could be? Why do you think he got the wart back and I'm safe?

Secondly, how were you already getting another wart considering the fact that the previous ones had JUST been removed? Do you think your doctor might not have seen more coming out?

I'm fine but it's the boyfriend I'm worried for. Wouldn't I have known if I had warts on the inside by now? My warts haven't returned

put your finger up there and check! lol.

In all honesty he may have one wart that the doc didnt get, it will either eventually go away on its own or you can go to a doc and have them remove it.

either way not a big issue.

HPV vaccine is good for boys and girls up to age 26.. officially. Unofficially it maybe beneficial for gay guys to get Gardasil (the quadrivalent) HPV vaccine because you just not caught yet one of the types it offers protection from (6,11,16,18). 6 and 11 cause the warts and 16 and 18 the cancers. It is simply not known if there is any benefit on people over 26, nor if there is therapeutic benefit after being infected, although there is some indication that this maybe the case. My very gay doctor says there is no harm in getting Gardasil and that most sexually active gay mens should get the shots (it's 3 shots separated by 6 months) just in case.

My personal view is that for gay guys is a total no brainer, specially if young. The vaccine is super effective for any cancers of warts caused by the types it covers.

Hey you guys

SOrry for asking so many questions but you guys are so responsive and I love that you guys give all sorts of advice. So, remember how i said i was afraid about my bf's warts? Well, he had warts on his penis earlier and he got them removed. However, now 2 warts have reappeared on the EXACT same spot of his cock. Initially they were bumps but according to him they're growing in size (though not in number).

DO we have reason to worry? Should we start using contraception? Why are his warts recurring even though I'm in the clear? PLEASE HELP.

Let's get back to the roots of condyloma:

"Condyloma is an infectious disease, usually transmitted by direct sexual contact, that is characterized by the presence of warts caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV). These warts may be found on the genitals, mucous membranes of the mouth, near the anus, or in the rectum."

Just removing warts is no guarantee. Usually the treatment involves also taking a cream for at least one to two weeks to make sure all (invisible) spots are also treated.

They have a tendency to come back if they are HPV warts. Or you just reinfect each other through unprotected sex. So first of all you should protect yourself if you feel insecure about the warts and surely if both of you are infected until you're totally clean. These warts are very infectious, more than the HIV virus.

You should go to a specialised doc or sexual health clinic together with your bf and get you both checked out and correctly treated.

I know, been there, done that... and from experience it can be long to get rid of and painful when it's anal...

Okay, when i had anal warts I got them removed. The doc burned them off by using some electric device. Burned like hell and yes, I did have to use Aldara for 6 weeks after which they went away.

Now I'm fine and in the clear. No warts have reappeared and there's no discomfort but by boyfriend's got two on his penis. The doctor told me that I could have bb sex after he inspected me one last time but he didn't mention that this is a VIRUS that will not go away.
