Just wondering how much interest there would be in having a downloads section here on Breeding Zone where people could buy scenes for $1 to $5/each? I could offer both professional porn scenes and amateur. The amateur means you guys could become your own porn producers. You set your price and get a cut of the revenue.

The one big caveat is that if the store is on this site Visa and Mastercard won't touch it - the payments would have to be in Bitcoin. Even if I set up a separate "clean" site, the upfront cost and overhead of using Visa/Mastercard may be cost prohibitive (I can't use PayPal - they don't process for porn).

Anyway, let me know what you think of the idea. If I implemented something it would be a ways down the road...

Eventually I think this will be the future. People will get tired of buying whole movies when they can simply buy single scenes. It's like in the music industry. Buying individual MP3 files now is everyday business but it took the business a long time to figure that out and meanwhile they have lost a lot of money.

The porn industry needs to re-think their marketing strategies too. Any company that does not offer download-to-own by now will be gone in a couple of years from now. You need to stay competitive.

From what I understand of Bitcoin you almost have to have a seperate computer to run it on unless your machine is super powerful since it is constantly running and doing those complicated math problems. Seems rather complicated for the average internet user at this point.

I totally agree and that was one of my primary objectives when I set up rawTOP.tv - you can join for free and buy/download (DTO) DVDs for $14.95 (or less if you also have a monthly streaming membership plan). I really wanted it to be scene based, but the VOD company that runs the site for me is old school and thinks in terms of DVDs, not scenes.

Absolutely not. You only need a powerful computer if you're trying to mine coins. For transactions, services such as Coinbase are pretty much identical to Paypal in terms of general functionality. The only major difference is that you can't link your Coinbase account to a credit card - only a bank account. And that won't change. Bitcoin transactions can't be charged back. So Coinbase (and others) can't have you buying bitcoins with a credit card and then charging back the credit card transaction - because they can't reverse the bitcoin transaction.

Maybe you can tell them that they're losing a lot of money from customers like me. I really spend quite a lot of money on porn every month but apart from having been a subscriber once to their site they never see any money from me since it's streaming only / DVD only. No scenes, nothing to buy to download.

That is something I did not know. I thought in order to use bitcoin you had to mine it. Good to know that, thanks for the info. All the articles I have read like in Business Week magazine have not been clear about not needing to mine it to use it.

Plus, are the downloads available for Mac too? Meaning the are DRM-free MP4 files?

Are you logged in? Dark Alley is one of the studios that do not appear on the tour, but do appear after members login.

The downloads are DRM-free MP4s. I believe they are (or will) have invisible watermarks that can be used to track the source of piracy. So use as you want personally, but don't be uploading to file sharing sites unless you want a lawsuit.

You're preaching to the choir about the whole scene vs. whole DVD thing. I tried and that's what I got… I do keep mentioning it every now and then - maybe one of these days they'll do the work to enable single scene downloads.

Right. There's a lot of stuff that's legal, but Visa won't touch it, so it never gets sold (or rather, never gets made).
