breederboy
Hey guys so most of my life I prided myself on always having big time boners when they counted. I never had issues. I'm 33 now. In the past few months I've noticed a decrease in my ability to get and maintain erections. I am HIV pos, have been undetectable/on meds for about 5 years. My interest in sex is still strong, and oddly enough when I'm jacking off I don't have any issues, maybe it's because I am in control of myself not sure. I had my testosterone checked a couple years ago and it was in the normal range. Also a few months back I began taking a beta blocker (Metoprolol) for rapid pulse episodes. It cured those, but now I notice a decrease in my ability to get and maintain erections. I don't know if it's the beta blocker or not. I do feel I have to be on something to control my pulse because I'm prone to rapid pulse episodes. But yet I also want to have a normal sex life. I'm not taking any anti-depressants so I can rule those out. I'm going to ask my doctor about this. Are there any natural vitamins/simple supplements I could try? Or am I destined for Viagra/Levitra/Cialis? Also, I don't have any major health problems, I'm not overweight, nor am I a diabetic, nor do I smoke. So not sure what could be causing the erection issues. What did some of you do to help cure this? Is there hope? I'm still a huge huge cummer with a high interest in sex, but I sometimes shy away from sexual encounters because I'm afraid I might have erection issues. So I really want to solve this so I can get back to having fun. Is it a simple thing to fix in someone aged 33? Thanks so much in advance for any insights. I'm also not having any new stress in my life either. What should I ask/expect my doctor to do? Are erection drugs cheap? Do they come in generics? Guest PozGoat
earthshift.com Become a 'student' of Dr Cassar's. I did and I feel better at 44 than I did at 16. Every health woes you detailed has a natural solution that will heal you, instead of some toxic rx med that usually worsens a person's health. Not shilling for Cassar. I'm testifying on how it changed my health for the better. Edited May 20, 2015 by PozGoat
psubigman
I noticed, upon reflection, that as I got closer to having to go to the hospital where they did "the test," I was having trouble getting it up and could only manage it every fourth day or so. There used to be days where I'd wank (I like the British term!) 4-6 times. I think I've had one orgasm since mid-March. No matter how horny, the hydraulics don't work. [i'm on metoporol too, borderline diabetic, and on 4 different meds for IT] I kind of wish I could at least jack off, but nothing that involves getting a substance out of my body is working right. #1, #2, or cum. jeff238
The metoprolol did the same thing to me. The dipshit doc that prescribed it to me was giving me way to high of a dose as well. I had no sex drive because I had no energy. It's a horrible drug. I'm now on lisinopril (sp?) And it is way better. Also only 5mg per day. Problem is, you are stuck with a beta blocker, as it controls heart rate. I would look for alternatives for sure.
Eppigbtm
Beta Blockers stopped me from getting an erection. Luckily I don't need them anymore. Side effect, it turned me into a total bottom
breederboy
I've asked the doctor to take me off the Metoprolol. She said there are other options. She also mentioned Viagra or Cialis. Are those pretty good medications for mild ED? I only have it midly, just occasional inability to maintain as hard an erection as I used to. Also, if in fact I have to go on Viagra or Cialis or Levitra, do they come in affordable generic forms? I'm looking forward to stopping this beta blocker. My hydraulics are fine, and my interest in sex is very good it's just minor issues with getting a full hard erection at times or keeping it as long as I want. Thats really my only complaint. The nurse on the phone told me about Viagra/Cialis so I'm open to trying one of them. I don't think I'd need much of them, just a slight "boost" to get my penis back where I want it to be. I'm only 33, & in decent overall health. I just think the beta blockers might have messed up my body chemistry a bit. But I'm saying bye-bye to them! I will have to take something so I won't have any incidents of fast heart beats anymore, but hopefully something that won't affect my penis. bearbandit
Same issues here... If you're poz, what's your medication? Some (notably ritonavir) can exinguish your libido - I was unfortunate enough to take the old version of ritonavir at the turn of the century and that was chemical castration that I've never really recovered from. New ritonavir can, in a few people, diminsh the libido, but not as much as SSRI antidepressants do. Bear in mind I took 800mg old ritonavir a day as opposed to the 100mg dose that's the standard for the new ritonavir and reports of its having a negative effect on libido are very uncommon. Note also that if you're on ritonavir you need a much smaller dose of an ED drug than other people because the ritonavir blocks the main pathway in the liver that's used for processing a number of drugs, including some ARVs and definitely ED drugs. Blood pressure medications can interfere with hardons simply because a hard on relies on pumping the dick full of blood and that blood staying there. If you're combining BP medication with any of the ED medications, check with your doctor first. Diabetes, I'm afraid, is a big cause of ED problems. So much so that as part of the diabetic checkup in Wales, nurses have to ask men with diabetes if they're having any problems with hardons: we get four viagra (or equivalent) free per month!Main physical causes of ED that I'm familiar with... Also bear in mind that it can be psychological: if there's something about sex that reminds you of something unpleasant (like getting diagnosed poz, for example), that can take its toll. Expand your repertoire... try bottoming. I've told a number of guys I've bottomed for not to be surprised if my dick doesn't seem to respond, I'm still enjoying it. I've started seeing a guy who doesn't care what goes up his ass as long as something does, so the toys get a workout when he's here. Planning on fisting him at some point. And I'm lucky in that he's a good enough slut with a good imagination that when we cyber (he lives a couple of hundred miles or more away) I sometimes do manage a hardon. Basically he's supportive of how I feel about ED (doesn't bitch about it, looks for solutions), he's doing me a lot of good. Distraction therapy can be effective too: something takes your attention away from worrying about getting a hardon... The two other "solutions" I'm aware of are caverject (don't know its USA name), which is an injection of papaverine into the base of your dick. You have to get the dose right as too much means that your dick is permanently up, fin at first till it starts hurting. A lot of guys are put off by the idea of injecting their dicks too, which to me isn't any great deal. I once tried using a diabetes testing lancet on my dick to try wanking with blood. No great turnon and one hell of a bruise the next day! And there's a reason that lancets are single use apart from cross infection: they get blunt fast! The other solution is a prosthesis which involves having what amounts to a couple of balloons either side of your dick, which you can fill with saline from a small storage container near the bladder. The fill/empty control is in the scrotum. I believe this was originally developed for trans guys, but isn't very popular: I know more trans guys who prefer the construct of a dick that doesn't get hard or else who keep their vaginas as Buck Angel has done. Apart from that I'm out of ideas - anyone else got more?
atlfukbud
I've had similar issues -- and have been mostly bottoming because of it -- while I luv to bottom, I also really enjoy the feel of my dick sliding in and out of an awesome hole, too! So, I'm experimenting with Viagra and Cialis daily - 5mg -- Cialis is expensive (order from Canada for under $300 for 90 pills) -- the 5 mg pretty much keeps me ready to fuck (I take it with dinner), or I can also take 2 pills and 30 minutes later be ready to go all night. Definitely avoid beta blockers, antihistimines and antidepressants if possible or go with the ones that have minimal sexual side effects. Psychological can also be important as bearbandit suggests -- if that's the issue you may be able to reprogram via therapy and also with successful sex over time. Good luck! calrockxxx
I was on a beta blocker for a long time and it had variable effects, but like Eppigbtm said above, I got really good at bottoming! I tried some herbal supplements back then, but they didn't really help. Once I was off the prescription, it took a few months to get back to my normal horniness level. bbinbpark
I'm having similar issues, but not on any beta blockers etc. I only take HIV meds, STRIBILD, and my asthma controllers. Stribild is the most recent addition, the other meds I've been on for years with no issue. Anyone else have issues with Stribild for this issue? Afraid its other factors, but changing diet, improving hydration etc. seem to have little impact to date.
Top2Bottom42
One thing that contributed to my ED was poppers. I was using them very heavy for some time and had the lack of hard on's... I would also try to have some older men fuck me, and they have a hard enough to get going on, not super stiff, but good enough to get into my open and hungry hole and they want to hit the poppers way too much (I make a point of warning them that my poppers were the strong ones)...next thing you know, they lose the hard on, want me to suck a now limp noodle and still wanting to hit those poppers... I just have them go... And with the formulation changes on all of the US poppers, they all burn my nose and I've almost completely stopped my popper usage (not even purchasing anymore, others still bring) and I've been getting some decent fuckable hard-ons, if I had an open hole that was ready to fuck, at the time... I was even working a hot younger man's hole open, in a buddies sling, was tired as shit, did not have a cockring on, but that hole was so awesome and all of the sudden, I realized that I had a boner, stood up and plowed that hole for all it was worth, got softer a few mins later and had gone back to working thag hole open. This happened 3 times before it would not do a 4th, got my two nuts after he had taken me to my place and we had played even more, but did not even get to the point of entery again, but fuck yeah, I was enjoying riding that hole and am very sure that the lack of poppers allowed me to do that. I tell people (tops), use the poppers only when they really need to, like they are getting close to climax and a few other times, but very sparing. They do very good that way... Guest Gloryholee
If you "worry" about not being able to get it up, that could be the beginnings of a phychological train of thought stopping you from getting an erection. Maybe this is why when you're wanking on your own, you have no issues. Most health care workers will assume if you're under 45, it's pyychological, because that's what the little computer infront of them, that they typed your symptoms into, says. Viagra, Cialis and the like come in different mg sizes. Start with 10mg tablets and see how they go. Not working? then try a 100mg. If that works too well, cut a 100mg tablet in two (50mg). Though could also be a side effect of your current medication you're taking.
breederboy
I do think at times I've watched too much porn and jerked off too much, so working on that now. But I definitely think it's partly a side effect of the meds I take, the lexapro & beta blockers. I've been given 5mg Cialis by my doc, going to try those and see what happens. I still get erections and have very high libido, just in need of a reliable boost so I won't lose my hardon during sex. Wish me luck. I recently switched off of Atripla onto Stribild, and notice that my erections have gotten better since being on Stribild. And the doc wants me to drop beta blockers in favor of Diltiazem which is a calcium channel blocker. So going to try all of this, with the Cialis. Hoping for a rock hard hardon lol
thick
My ed started at forty. Viagra is the best way for me to have and erection and maintain one. I shoot up testosterone once a week and whenever I going to fuck I pop a blue pill. 33 is a little young to be taking anything. If you have a rapid pulse try exercising.
breederboy
Yea I do exercise and walk. I think it's the metoprolol but hopefully the cialis will work I got 30 day trial 5mg pills. Should last me awhile. Going to try one this week and see how it goes. Can't decide whether to stay with metoprolol and add cialis to it, or ditch the metoprolol for diltiazem which my doc suggested. I've already reduced my metoprolol dose to about 37mg a day. In my 20s I got reliable rock hard erections all the time and around age 28 began having slight issues of going soft, but it didn't really start until the last year or so. Cialis is my last hope!
