Did you ever go on a gay cruise?

Have been on 6 all gay cruises, 1 RSVP the rest Atlantis.  What I've found is that the cruises can be whatever you want.  The more mainstream locations seem to have more play.  Think Baltic, Med, Hawaii, Mexican Riviera, Caribbean and Australia.  Alaska and Tahiti not so much as decidedly older groups on those due to costs of travel and ship size.  The bigger the more action.  Have had pool action in evening "indoor pool became bear den of fun", Secluded "front decks" plenty of action, then night parties have lots going on from tightly packed dance floors to out of the way corners.  Haven't seen much of doors open but I'm sure some.  Staff is usually all over the place so a bit of discretion is great.  And yes, the all gay cruises are usually 90% men and then some lesbians and some pals along for fun.  Moms and open minded siblings as well.  What I find is whatever you are looking for you can likely find.  From a week of hedonistic fun to relaxing and tour focused.  I've found most folks check the attitudes at the pier and people open up and normal cliques disappear.  I highly recommend, have made good friends and kept in touch with folks over the years.  Money well spent on all.  No disappointments for sure.

I have been on four Atlantis cruises and in fact will be going on one in August touring the Greek isles.  As jagmanca says, there is something for everyone.  There are Bear, Leather, muscle, twinks, singles, couples get together and tea dances and event dance parties almost every single night.  When in port, you can do a plethora of group excursions, or just stay on the ship.  Depending on the cruise there is an outdoor deck that allows for nude sunbathing.  This is known as the Dick Deck and after hours usually is a major cruise spot.  Sex can be found anytime, but I wouldn’t say it is a bathhouse type environment.  You have WiFi, so Grindr, Scruff and BBRT are all active.  Cabin doors aren’t really conducive to being left open, so cruising takes place in person or on line.  There are cruise staff everywhere, so you really need to be discreet if having sex in public.  Word of caution though, at one port, two guys were arrested for public indecency having balcony sex port side, in port.  Also, while I have a high level of confidence that there is drug use, not being discreet and having the cabin cleaning crew report you for drugs caused my Mexico to LA cruise a delay in disembarking as the ATF came on the boat and searched cabins with dogs.  You had to line up and people were pulled out of line for “special” screening.  Otherwise, it was really a fun cruise!

First time on the cruise ship was a gay one. Older friend, the guy who bred me at 18,  invited me for 5 days cruise. It was everything I had expected and a lot more. Met four couples in the same situation as myself, one being much older top and other is a lot younger, two 18 and two 19 years old. We swapped partners and our older tops were very happy to sampled young sweet hole. The top used younger bottom as a bait to get the other bottom. Most of the actions were in private cabins and I received a heavy load from young daddy in the pool. First time in public space, Sitting on his lap and grinding on his hot pole… fun fun stuffs. I was well fed and happy boy.

Mind you, it's always *possible* on a smaller ship that the gay group has booked the entire ship and coordinated with the cruise line to have nothing but open-minded, if not openly gay, staff crewing the cruise. But I wouldn't count on that, particularly on any ship that has a passenger capacity over, say, a thousand.

My husband and I went on an Atlantis cruise last year; two of them strung together.  We went from the eastern Med out and around up to the UK.  The ship was chock full of gays and it was like a very very long circuit party; only this was a luxury circuit party.  The ship was excellent and the shore trips were well-organized.  Except for one thing; busses are not recommended if you’re so fucked-out every bump makes you groan from your sore ass.  Just sayin’!

I'm glad you had a good time. But a "very very long circuit party" sounds like torture to me.

There were many escapes while on the ship; and trips and shore excursions and activities every port day.  It really was great; but if you’re not into group gay debauchery then likely nothing you would enjoy.

I'm not necessarily opposed to group gay debauchery. I absolutely refuse to be around meth-ed out Xers, which is pretty much all of what I see at circuit parties.

Minimal; the consequences were high.

I have been on multiple all gay cruises. Quite a few with RSVP and one Vacaya cruise. I really enjoy it. Haven't been on an Atlantis cruise yet cause from their reputation they cater to a younger circuit party crowd than I would feel comfortable with. Would love to hear from someone in their 50s that has been on an Atlantis cruise.

Overall I really enjoy the full ship all gay charters. Lots of friendly gay men, the staff seeks to enjoy it more than regular cruises.

RSVP and Vacaya are less circuit party vibe alternatives. The great thing about them is that they cater to everyone. So rather than going to the house party dance, you can go to the piano bar to hang out, or etc. With 2000 gay men on a ship, you really can find your niche with other men that enjoy the same things as you.

There was a similar thread recently elsewhere on this site. The one thing I'd suggest is tempering your expectations.

Never been on one, but my ex had a friend who organized and coordinated gay themed cruises - drag, bear, etc. - who also said the same. He said it was usually more like booking a fetish event at a large convention center hotel with other events going on at the same time. On larger ships you have your area and there are a lot of restrictions if events were in an open space.
