Inserting pics into messages

It seems of that while we can copy and paste pics into forum posts, we have to copy and paste links in order to share pics in messages. Is there any plan to enable us to be able to copy and paste pics in messages? There's a couple that I would love to share in messages, but can't since I haven't posted them to websites (they're all my own pics).

Nope, that's not how my screen looks.
