sleeping on the ground in a tent thing and don't ever have to do it again!

No, I was in something called the "Webelows", which I always thought was a junior version of the Boy Scouts.  I didn't last long, I know we took a bus trip from Philadelphia to Washington, DC, and I had to wear this new, itchy uniform.  I hated it, after that trip I was pretty much done with that........

Webelos is a level within the Cub Scouts which is a program within the same org as Boy Scouts. I was a Cub Scout for a few years (Wolf and Bear levels) but didn't get anything out of it so I quit. Cub/Boy scouts weren't very popular where I grew up.

I lived in Utah I could not be a scout unless I joined the Mormon church. Well I never was a scout, but played with Mormon scouts.

I was raised in UT, left twice, and made the mistake of coming back once more in 2020.  The sexual repression here is suffocating - I fell for it, but i never gave in to the pressure of a LDS mission or marrying a women.  That isn't the case of so many closet queers here.

But it felt so guilty as a young teen about my feelings they got so deeply bred (pun intended) into me, that to this day I can't be intimate - I only fuck most guys once, and even after years of therapy and tens of thousands of dollars,  I still prefer anonymous, raunchy, [banned word] sex.  And I consider myself lucky to have escaped the trauma so may men endured here, like shock therapy.

AND I KNEW I WANTED COCK AT AGE 8.

I was/am an Eagle Scout, was in Order of the Arrow and the honor group at my BSA summer camp too. I love camping and hiking so it was a great way for me to go out into the wilderness every month. Wouldn’t have minded sex with some of the guys in my troop but never had or saw or heard of anything sexual and sorry to hear of some of the bad experiences other guys here had. First times I got drunk, stoned, and did acid were all in scouts though. Fun and fortunately we always held it together and never got caught.

I was raised Catholic -- 12 years of school -- so I understand the indoctrination, though I suspect LDS was even worse.  At least the nuns taught me good grammar 🙂

Of all the fucked up people I know, the root cause for almost all was either abuse (sexual or otherwise) or religion.

When I was in 2nd grade or so I joined the Cub Scouts. The den mother was nice and basically just lets us do whatever we wanted in the basement which was usually some sort of crafts.

As it turned out nearly every one of us grew up to be gay but at the time I don’t think any of even knew what gay even was. We all kind of bonded being with other boys who were similar but we didn’t quite understand how so. It was also nice to be with boys that weren’t picking on us or being mean.

One of my favorite memories from childhood was when we were down in the basement doing some kind of crafty thing when Marc, a very nelly baby queen cud scout stepped out of the room for a minute.

For  a little backstory - This happened in the middle 1970s and there was a new game show that was a big hit called  Celebrity Sweepstakes. One of the regular ‘celebrities’ was a very busty ditzy platinum blond named Carol Wayne.

A few minutes later nelly Mark comes back into the room with a couple of oranges stuffed under his shirt to look like tits and a mass of white yarn all over his head like a majeshift wig. He threw his arms up like the little diva he was and says ‘Look at me! I’m Carol Wayne!’

We all cheered and clapped and laughed. It was probably my first real non sexual gay experience and I still love that memory of being ‘with my people’
