and now he's a convict .... 34 times over.

Unsurprisingly, the former President has been convicted on all 34 counts, and is currently / officially a Convicted Felon.  It's possible he could appeal successfully, but chances seem rather poor for any successful outcome.

I am reminded of an old hymn from my childhood; "Once to Every Man and Nation Comes a Moment to Decide", on the tune Ebenezer composed by J.R. Lowe (ca 1850), also sung to the tune Aurelia.  It's all about an event - a singularly crucial crossroads one faces in one's life, whether to do the right thing (perhaps the more difficult choice) or choose the wrong course of action (possibly the easier choice).

Now, our country is in that situation.  What will we, as the population of a country facing a difficult choice, decide to do?  Will those who support the former President for some reason or another continue to belch forth nonsensical hatemongering?  Will they find the wherewithal to reflect on their beliefs, and resolve to revisit their views?  Will those who never supported the convict be gracious and welcome those who have been fooled by a pied piper back into the community of citizens?  As another old saying goes:  A house divided against itself cannot stand.

Our system of Justice, which has worked well over these past centuries, still works as it's supposed to.  A man was charged with felonious crimes, brought to trial, a jury of his peers found him guilty on all counts, and in around 30+ days he will face sentencing.  Yet, there are apparently so many citizens that have been fooled into sucking up every lie that drops from his lips, we are presently a Country divided against itself.  We've faced tests of our National Character before, but never one like this - until now.

What is it about this man that so many find so attractive?  Everything he touches, dies.  Let's try to make sure he doesn't drag the United States down with him.  It's up to us to save our Republic.

I agree @hntnhole.  This is perhaps the simplest election so far.  Do we continue as a democracy honoring our well crafted and able to be amended constitution?  Or do we chuck it all (including every property right we have) and start over with an Orange King (Dictator)?

As imperfect as our government is; it works for most of the population most of the time.  Presently we are broken with our severely divided politics; with the R side building a platform on false information and more base human instincts.  We can do better and I for one truly hope we do.  While I would prefer a new generation of President; now doesn't seem to be the time.

I miss the GOP though; at a time it provided a good check and balance.  I hope we can return to that....

I never imagined 16 years ago that the racist reaction to Obama's election would come to this: A convicted criminal, and certified idiot, having a real chance to become our next president.

That's funny. No, that's hilarious! Democrats are the masters of projection. Every underhanded thing they do, they accuse others of doing. This isn't sexual freedom that's at stake. It's foreign policy, national security, the economy. You can't think with your cocks on this.

Let's look on the bright side of his conviction, we now all know which Lawyers ( his ) not to hire for any reason.

I wouldn't blame the poor lawyer, he did the best he could, considering the POS and guilty AF client ha had to defend.

foreign policy: the one thing both sides are guilty of is kissing the ass of israel. but lol at the putin/kim loving, classified info babbled at cocktails party  loose lipped financially compromised guy being better for foreign policy. that was a good one! 😂

the economy? lol did you enjoy those 4 years of deficit building, out of control inflation and record unemployment. the pathetic mishandling of the covid crisis alone ruined the economy in ways that will take forever to heal.

in the defense's defense: this was such a fact laden case with a long paper trail that it was almost un-winable. even they never spoke once of a possible acquittal but instead placed all their bets on the hung jury possibility. just like his defenders here, don't argue w facts but just throw confusion around to establish doubt.

the fact that they kept him off the stand is proof they're better than Habba but that's arguably a low bar. too much time was wasted disputing unimportant facts: it's irrelevant if he came inside stormy or not. but their client thinks court is a political rally so... we got the "you're all just jealous of my boogie" defense

It seems some do enjoy the liberty to think only with their dicks and potentially dick filled assholes.

... or mini dick filled porn stars and Playboy models, to be point of getting convicted for breaking the law looking to keep this fact from becoming public knowledge.

The only thread to our liberties is posed by that racist overweight two-bit Hitler wannabe that the republicans are about to make their presidential candidate for the third time in a row.

And yet with your response @sub4oralcum you do exactly that, think with your cock.  The base human instinct I was referencing was greed and power.

FWIW is dislike political parties altogether.  They oversimplify human dynamics.

I don't get Trump's appeal and how he has been able to turn the Republican party into a cult of personality. Sure they supported Reagan wholeheartedly but it never got this bad. My entire family used to be Republicans but have have all now voted for Democrats in every election since 2016. Trump has fundamentally changed who the base of the Republican party is. They will excuse any behavior by Trump, knowingly repeat his lies, and deny reality all because why? He beat Hillary in an election? He lets them publicly express their hate towards immigrants and minorities? He pisses liberals and smart people off? He gave them the judges that overturned Rowe and potentially Obergefell?

Two of his wives are immigrants. Not all Trump supporters are non-immigrant white.
