What are you most optimistic about in political developments in 2025?

I have some hope that in 2025...

The left wing, having had their hats handed to them, will do some serious thinking about addressing the problems of the many before chasing after the issues of the lunatic fringe. By that I mean the economy (as seen by the proletariat), healthcare, sustainable existence, and climate change (that's my personal short list of things that really count).

The right wing, having their darlings Trump and Musk, et al., demonstrate their complete unsuitability for public office, will do some serious thinking about addressing the problems of the many before chasing after the issues of the lunatic fringe. By that I mean the economy (as seen by the proletariat), government spending, individual rights, and infrastructure (also my personal list, perhaps slightly less focused than the above but I'm sure some of y'all right-wingers will be glad to help me out).

I agree.  Just because someone once experienced x or y or z, the world doesn't stop to gasp in horror.  We do need to be cognizant of history, wrongs perpetrated (occasionally unknowingly), and correct those we can.  

Government can't and shouldn't try to guarantee everyone a ranch home in the burbs, a new-ish car in the driveway, steak dinners or swell clothes. 

The Left shouldn't try to impose correction of every single discernable issue upon the citizenry, and the Right shouldn't expect the country to come to a screeching halt when they pick at what amounts to rather little in the grand scheme.  

I too will be waiting for some "right-wingers" to respond cogently.

I think US has already lost that credibility. The Gaza comments have been insane, Vance and Hegseth were truly embarrassing last week, Rubio meeting with Sergei Lavrov in Saudi Arabia to begin talking about carving up Ukraine is terrifying. Ukraine and Europe are pissed, and it’s clear the Trump-Putin romance is back on. Trump saying in press conference that Ukraine should have already made a deal and that Ukraine shouldn’t have started the war with Russia was one of the most shocking things I’ve ever heard him say. There’s no way that our Western allies are going to be able to trust us with intelligence (nor should they - especially with Gabbard running the show.) I fear for the future of Ukraine, NATO, and Europe.

I think the US Government so far has lost it credibility.  Suggesting that might apply to all who live here seem to echo 4547's belief he received a mandate.  The only 'man date' he has received is with his boyfriend Vlad.

Putin would be foolish to let such a huge corpulent creature rut in his riby, pinched little ass ... 

On the other hand, if their "bromance" were in some high-rise hotel in Moscow ..... with open windows to let the cool breezes in .... in the Dictator-suite on the highest floor ..... 

Could the world be that lucky ????

And yet unemployment is skyrocketing already under Trump, including tens of thousands of federal workers. So much for jobs.
