They could always change what rhe previous Gov did, however UK seems to be going backwards as far as open mindedness comes now it's no longer influenced by EU.

So glad I moved away from that repressed country.

Precisely. I know the bill got introduced by the previous government. However our current prime minister is just so terrible it's not even funny. In many ways his government is even more cruel than the previous one (which is saying something). As an example, funding for disabled kids education and transport that even the Conservatives wouldn't dare touch has been gutted. I therefore refuse to give them any slack just because this bill was introduced by the previous administration.

Keeping things back on topic, while there's been some backlash to the restrictions, the predictable editorials on UK news sites are coming out in response to these restrictions. Namely "This bill doesn't go far enough, think of the children!".  So I doubt they're gonna go away anytime soon.

So for my brother's in the UK the new ofcom regulations will go as follows. The rules are what ever they deem as harmful to, national security, public health, misinformation, misogyny,  and of course banning illegal things to children. It's all about control and shutting down competition and things your establishment doesn't agree with. Oh how the irony of when Keir Starmer was in the oval office speaking with president Trump saying the UK has free speech echoes even louder laughs these days.

The lotus eaters did a nice video explaining the issues pertaining to the censorship "regulations" that you will now be under. Here's a link to help you along. God save the kingdom

Heard from several UK users on X/twitter today - some of them said VPNs aren't working for them.  I sent out messages to some of my UK followers to see if/what affect the July 1 change has done to them.

So far my UK followers are still running around 3.5-3.9%.
