onlyraw Posted December 31, 2025 Report Posted December 31, 2025 So I don’t think anyone has posted anything about this yet …. I have been seeing TONs of stuff online about this show … clips from tge show and clips of various podcasters comments about the show…. So finally figured out how to load HBO on my computer fortunately didn’t watch it until all of the episodes had been posted (and I had seen all the spoilers so I didn’t get too stressed out as I knew how it ended) so was just able to enjoy binging all 6 hours so not a “barebacking” show … in fact in one scene they make a point of pulling out the condoms… but they also make a joke about them …. After that (in contrast to the old Queer as Folk where condom use was pointed and obvious) you don’t see any … so I just kind assume (or at least can fantasize) that they are doing it raw but the sex scenes are (I think) REALLY fucking hot …. Both in action … and just the chemistry the actors have, and I think those acting it really good — at at times outstanding but mainly — in these crazy MAGA times … it was really wonderful to see a show that was that in your face these guys are having really hit sex … like all they tune … and a very sensitive portrayal of gay men Anybody also a fan? (For our friends in England I think it starts airing January 10th or so) I have also been hooked on watching some of these podcasts… one a regular hockey podcast… 3 straight guys …. And kind of wonderful watching them over the six episodes to like really get into the sex scenes… and be cheering on our very gay heroes 2 Quote

MM novels are typically gay romance novels largely written by women (of course there are male writers), and are generally marketed to women. Some guys like myself read them quite regularly, but I'm generally in the minority in those groups. I am, unfortunately plagued with the misfortune of loving reading romance and sluttiness (hence in BZ). Just take note that mm novels are quite particular about condom use - if you want condoms definitely excluded, then you will need to look at genres that will exclude them - primarily Regency, period, sci fic, fantasy, omega verse - omega verse is a particular favourite of mine with lots of breeding kink, heats/ruts (which you know... Reads almost like they're both /cough completely off their face) If you want an mm writer that is a bit more leaning into erotica (though still romance), I recommend Roe Horvat One of the oddities you'll find with mm romance novels are that there are a lot of gyf (gay for you) troupes - i.e. the straight guy is only gay for that over person. It was a lot worse maybe about 5-10 years ago where almost every other novel had that troupe. I don't think it is as prevalent now though it seemed to move to "bi-awakening". NYBBGUY58 Posted 20 hours ago Report Posted 20 hours ago I've read the entire series, and at least towards the end there's talk of no longer using condoms since all the couples are severely monogamous. That's romance: the happily ever after. I had read some of the novels just prior to the series release. There are clips all over YouTube, and it's interesting how unlike the characters the actors are - which proves how good the acting is. I decided to subscribe to HBO Max just to see this new gay romance series. If they're going to put resources into same-sex romance I wanted to support it! The actors are insanely hot. I swear part of the casting must have been "Okay, turn around and drop the trousers...YEP, you're PERFECT for the role. Since there's no frontal nudity we actors with fabulous asses!" 🙃 1 Quote

One of them is gay now. The really quiet one and the one wearing glasses are the straight ones. Heated Rivalry was amazing. I just don’t cry at movies or TV shows. Can’t really say that anymore. Episodes 5 and 6 had me sobbing. It’s gonna be a long wait for season 2. And I’m pissed that it’s not eligible for Emmy Awards. 1 Quote

And an HBO spokesperson said they won’t be for season 2 eitherl. And since there wasn’t any US financing or creative involvement, it’s not eligible for Emmy Awards. 🥲 1 Quote
onlyraw Posted 1 hour ago Author Report Posted 1 hour ago Have been a fan of MM romance for some time now (they got me through the shut down) …. Looking forward to reading this series as I hear they are much “smuttier” than others … will be interesting to see if that is true mainly what I love about the TV series is just how sex positive it is … and ya … not a proponent of BB sex (but the sex is amazingly HOT)… but I posted on here as this is the only site I am on with a discussion board … and a) wondered if other guys liked it as much as I did and b) if guys hadn’t watched it yet wanted to encourage you to do so … to get the ratings as high as possible…. To try and get more gay shows produced Ya it is a bummer it’s going to be a while for season 2 …. But I prefer they take their time and do it right than throw something together (I think they were caught off guard by how successful the show was) total bummer it is not eligible for the Emmys as our Russian should definitely get nominated for best actor Quote
