Poppers Side Effects

… with a little help from the internet this is what poppers actually are followed by my experience of them:

Poppers were originally amyl nitrite (one of a group of Alkyl nitrites), used by angina sufferers dilate the coronary arteries of patients improving blood flow to the heart muscle.  They were first used in 1970s by the LGBT community.

This extended to the drug in any form as well as to other drugs with similar effects, e.g. butyl nitrite which is packaged under a variety of trade names in small bottles.

Inhaling nitrites relaxes smooth muscles throughout the body, including the sphincter muscles of the anus this causes them dilate resulting in an immediate increase in heart rate and blood flow throughout the body, producing a sensation of heat and excitement that usually lasts for a couple of minutes A further result is an immediate decrease in blood pressure..

What you actually get in the bottle is usually a variant of Alkyl nitrites, butyl nitrite being the most popular.

Any of the Alkyl nitrites interact with other vasodilators, such as Viagra, Levitra, and Cialis, to cause a serious decrease in blood pressure, which can cause fainting, stroke, and low blood pressure leading to potential heart attack.

Side effects of popper abuse includes rapid heartbeat, headaches, migraines, dizziness and fainting

Swallowing poppers can be fatal.

Heavy use of poppers can cause problems with vision but long-term abstinence usually allows full recovery.

Maximum Impact is actually Ethyl chloride, misleadingly marketed as poppers, despite having no historical relation to poppers and not containing alkyl nitrites. Similar to poppers, ethyl chloride is used as an inhalant during sexual activity. it is a central nervous system depressant, At concentrations of 3% to 5%, victims usually exhibit symptoms similar to those of alcohol intoxication.

Personally I hate Poppers.  I had one friend who loved them and sniffed them regularly.  The first time we had sex he used them and got the liquid on his fingers.  Wherever he touched me with those fingers I got a truly nasty rash of tiny blisters that burned and itched for days, they would burst and weep for a few days after before they crusted and dried off.  Of course his principal play area was my asshole.  I presume it was some form of allergic skin reaction. I know it was the poppers because I tested it later on my upper arm and the same happened. Never again will I have anything to do with poppers.  I have never met anyone else who has had a similar experience but I won’t risk that level of discomfort ever again.

Correct me if I’m wrong. Ethyl Chloride is used to melt-weld plastics and feels cold to the touch.

While most of @BritBottom‘s post is accurate, the section above could be read to mean that Maximum Impact is similar to poppers. The only similarity is that they are both inhaled - other than that, MA is vastly more dangerous.

Here’s my question about popper effects - the first few times I tried them, I sometimes reached very lightheaded states, or even briefly passed out (once while being fucked - that was interesting snapping back from). Now, however, I never reach anything like that heady state - has anyone else experienced this? Is it possible to become accustomed to them to the point that it begins to lose its ability to affect?

Similarly, I have always seen the visual effect some describe as a “green blob”, but now it doesn’t always appear or isn’t as stark, even with a fresh bottle. And I kind of hate that, because for me, what I actually see looks almost exactly like an anus with a bright center where the gaping hole would be, and whenever I see it, it’s like a confirmation of what I am and what the Top between my legs is about to do to me...

Just as a point of interest, the “blob” at the center isn’t usually green for me - it’s usually pink, blue, or even black, depending on the brand of poppers.

My thanks to Pozlover1 and ErosWired:

It is correct that “Ethyl Chloride is used to melt-weld plastics and feels cold to the touch.”  It seems to have had various industrial applications apart from recreational.

ErosWired :“Maximum Impact is similar to poppers. The only similarity is that they are both inhaled - other than that, MA is vastly more dangerous” – I should have made this clearer.

Thanks both for the corrections, I shall try to do better in future.

In addition, ethyl chloride has had medical use as an an aesthetic, which is part of what makes use of Maximum Impact so dangerous - it makes you feel intoxicated and impairs judgment, while deadening your sense of pain. So essentially, you could drunkenly agree to let some brute with massive hands fist you, then be too numb to realize that he’s tearing your flesh, and be to out of it to care.

Or you could just suddenly die from a huff of it. That can happen too. #NotShittingYou

This seems to vary from individual to individual - some men (a minority in my experience) don’t seem to suffer loss of erection from at least judicious popper use, while most men will start to lose it after three or four sniffs. And once it’s gone, it’s not coming back until the effect wears off.

The cause apparently has to do with poppers relaxing the smooth muscle tissue in the body, which includes the part that retains blood in the cock to maintain an erection. For this reason, I always encourage Tops to lay off poppers if they’re planning to fuck, because no amount of head is going to bring that back to life once it’s poppered limp.

If you want to use them to make yourself stay limp, the only thing you can do is try it and see if you’re one of the majority who goes limp. Your mileage may vary

Why use them if they make your dick go soft.  I don't use them personally, but saw this with a total top I hooked up with last night.  I started out sucking him, and had him hard as a rock and was deep throating him when he took the 1st hit, and his dick went almost totally soft.  I got him almost fully hard again several times, but every time I came close to getting him hard enough to fuck me he would take another hit.  After several rounds over the next 15-20 minutes he wasn't getting hard at all.  He had a nice thick 9 inches, so needless to say I was very disappointed.

Exactly. I think a lot of Tops are unaware of this side effect of poppers (or imagine their übercock is immune 🙄) so I’m on a crusade to educate them - at least the ones that encounter me. I even have a small pamphlet I designed with the title: About Poppers, and have it available whenever I host. (I know, that sounds a little over the top, but I’m sick of guys trying to penetrate me with noodles, for  fucksake.)

When I use poppers I will inhale and then let it out and inhale again. This seems to work best. Gives me a deep feeling. Also, I generally use the popper for two inhales at the beginning of the fuck and then again just before I cum. I don't use it constantly. By far I have by best, most intense orgasims when I inhale two or three times just before orgasim. It's just earth shattering.

I feel the same, you have to be strategic with poppers, and not go over board................everything in moderation
