This seems likely to wipe out the entire straight section here, since it all revolves around the word escort, few of us are getting any random bareback sex without paying for it and referring each other to the recommended sources; and general discussions about infamous barebackers like Kiri is all about her career in the escort business, with direct references to her perfectly legal advertising on UK sites

The best recent material in this section has been the confessions of MiaSlut24, who also discusses her professional fees for street prostitution in Miami Florida.

Fully understanding your concern about the term "whoring out", isn't just going to effect this site, but will tear a swathe through Fetlife, where it seems to be part of their Dom-Sub speciality.

Fiction written about this subject needs to be reality based to have any authenticity. I'm not sure that simply using the word "fiction" will provide Admin with his "get out of jail free card". Neither might dating the events described as being at a specific time in the past, not even last century!

Our best alternative might be taking these discussions to http://barepunting.info/index.php. This being a UK based site covering the same subjects. We need to encourage them to fix their occasional connectivity problems, especially for new members. Once they do this and have their site better moderated so it will not simply fail because of the loss of one Admin; I think we'll find it a very welcoming place.

Censoring language does nothing but inspire the creation of new code words and symbols. The gay community has been having explicit conversations right under the noses of fine, upstanding people for generations. This will be no different. There will be a new substitute for the "e-word" before you know it. Plus, I'm quite sure this will face legal challenges.

fetlife was gutted last year, when credit card companies terminated their support:

Seeing as motherless is more hardcore, the question needs to be asked why nobody has acted against them. From what I've heard, they pretty much almost endorse underage acts.

So this is a cheap political move to make at least something seem bipartisan after the backlash regarding the GOP gun fetishists. 1. Its not going to be enforced, because they know that its unconstitutional.  The ACLU willl be all over this.. I wouldn't delete anything,  just unlink it and store it unspidered in the Deep Net until it blows over   Unlink and store in deep web. No sharing  the link.

The ACLU didn't do anything in the wake of the AshleyMadison.com or fetlife.com debacles.

Interestingly, the bill has been on the books since the House of Representatives passed it in 2014: https://www.businessinsider.com.au/the-aclu-protests-sex-trafficking-law-2014-5?r=US&IR=T

The irony of Orange Hitler signing off on a bill, written by professional whores intent on outlawing escorts, is astounding.

He hasn't yet signed off on it - bare in mind that for good or bad it was a 97-2 vote (and that it's pretty much been in the works for almost 4 years). IOW, blame both sides for it.

All the content is just being hidden, not deleted. I've asked the moderators to use a particular phrase as the "reason" when hiding it, so hopefully I can unhide it when the law is overturned. That said, the wording in certain posts is being changed when the post would be fine with just a few small tweaks. There was a lot of that in the "have you had sex with a pornstar?" thread.

@rawTOP - Are we also concerned about references to “whoring out”, particularly where they involve instances of one person offering the services of another, even though no consideration may change hands? Does this meet the definition of trafficking as concerns the statute? We have discussions on here in which Tops give the opinion that cash in such exchanges is an important part of the experience, even though it’s not the reason the bottom chooses to do it.

90% of the time "whoring out" isn't in the context of money. Those instances are OK. Please report the other 10% and we'll clean them up or hide them.

Should the AOC thread also be removed? Not a concrete correlation - but it COULD be interpreted as trafficking.

Which thread in particular? Nothing has changed in relation to sex with minors. This is about charging for sex.

Yup. The first thing I did was hide the "discussion of female escorts" section. I'm the only one that can see what's in there right now. If there escort related threads in the general straight discussion section, please report them and we'll move them to the escort section where they'll be hidden.

As far as fiction… This law is about people who actually pay or get paid for sex, or facilitate the transaction. AFAIK, it's not about what people fantasize about.

Yup already done years ago with the term "generous".

Pay attention to what's going on in your own country. Legislation has passed and they're working out the implementation of the details now, but to access adult content in the UK you'll need to identify yourself and be approved to view the content EVERY TIME you want to see something. Clearly Craigslist was thinking, "well, while we're dealing with this one law, we might as well deal with the other one as well…" That law was scheduled to go into effect this spring, but it's been delayed until the fall. And yes, I'll be implementing those controls on this site as well – once I know what solutions will be available, how they work, and what the pricing is.

[And it bears mentioning that I've already banned users from Utah given the legislation that's passed there.]

People… This is why politics is important. The world is becoming way too authoritarian / fascist / conservative. Your vote matters. Getting other people to realize their vote matters is important too.

In part I believe you are correct in regards to making it a political move.  BZ is airing on the side of caution though, which is smart on their part.  With this fucked up administration, you never really know what they will do, or how strongly they will enforce it.  A prime example is the ICE raids. I'm sure it will ultimately shut down websites such as rent boys, or ant sites that have "pro" sections.

Here are some informative articles if you want to do more reading…

NPR on Craigslist taking down their personal ads…
https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2018/03/23/596460672/craigslist-shuts-down-personals-section-after-congress-passes-bill-on-traffickin

And then a rather dense legal explanation of why the law is unconstitutional…
https://blog.ericgoldman.org/archives/2018/03/why-fostas-restriction-on-prostitution-promotion-violates-the-first-amendment-guest-blog-post.htm

And yes, @tighthole64 is right… I'm erring on the side of caution. I'd rather keep my head down and not be hauled into court as a test case. If companies the size of Craigslist (who have WAY more resources than me) don't want to be a test case, then I don't want to be one either.

If escorting were at the core of what this site is about, I might react differently. For the straight folks on the site it often is. But this site is primarily gay, not straight. We all know most gay pornstars are escorts, so we don't lose much by calling them pornstars rather than escorts. Both are accurate. Both paint the picture that needs to be painted. We can just use obscure catchphrases and not discuss details too deeply while all of this blows over. But that may be a few years…

I do not think anyone here blames you rawTOP or even Craigslist. And from what I have read and my layman's understanding of the law, this goes too far to stop sex trafficking. It seems that it does not behoove Congress to learn nuance while making laws. All they saw was an easy legislative victory before November.

I am no escort nor prostitute but I am shocked to see your Trump is bringing back the US in the 18th century instead of going forward in a open minded world that is nice & good for people, nature & all living beings (both animals & humans) What's next to cum, forbidding homosexuality back?
