A couple of observations from my personal experience. Firstly, I found fucking with a small gauge ring like my starter (which was 8ga) very uncomfortable. The cheese cutter effect was real. Once I got to around 4 it was a game changer for comfort and sensation. 
Secondly, a curved barbell is pretty comfy for everyday wear for me, but during fucking (or even jerking off), the ball at the urethral end constantly enters the urethra, pushing most of the bar out the underside of my cock.

Thanks for the advice. My second fuck after getting pierced felt great - much better than the first time out. I know he got a huge load as well.  4g was what I was planning to move up to; I want to size up to a 6g by the beginning of March. Not a fan of the captive ball ring. I don't like wearing something I can't change out on my own.  I had to push to piercer to go with an 8g; she wanted to start with a 10g. I insisted on the 8 and am glad I did. Tough to find much porn where the top leaves his piercing in while fucking bb, they usually take it off, which I don't get.

I thought I’d stop at 4ga too, lol. I think March is doable for a 6, I went from 8 to 0 in just under 2 years. Don’t rush it though, just let it stretch naturally. You can get a blowout - a circular ring of scar tissue - if you ramp it up too quickly. It won’t take long by itself if you are a randy fucker.
