How does one get into the gay porn industry? I post video on xtube.com ,  it's always solo, I'd prefer a bunch of hung guys fucking me on cam and getting paid for it.

It is not an easy thing to do. Every guy thinks they can do porn, but only a few of them get chosen by studios.

Casting directors look for two of three things on each applicant:

- big dick

- good face

- excellent figure

If you have only one (or none) of these, then they are unlikely to cast you unless there is something special about your sexual technique or you know the right people.

Big muscle is not required for most of the studios, but abs are highly valued. If you're chunky or underdeveloped, they are unlikely to consider you. The sex appeal must be present because the entire premise of your work is based on that. Also, set boundaries for yourself. What are willing to do? What do you enjoy? What won't you do? You also gotta know where your aesthetic fits. If you are covered in ink, Colt Men is not an option for you. If you are a sick fucker with no clear limits, Treasure Island might be a good starting place. Twinks can be popular and fucked regularly, but apply to twink-prominent studios if you are one.

They may ask you for your fantasy. If you just want "a gangbang", that's not very creative or interesting, and they've heard it a thousand times. Don't try to impress or shock - those generally don't work and they tend to see through that.

You also have to be willing to talk to people. Get connected. Follow your favourite porn stars on Twitter or Instagram or Facebook. Some of them may have ideas where you belong, and though you might get a lot of silence from those guys, they can sometimes help out in other ways.

Starting out making X-tube videos is great. It gets you out there, and shows what you can do. If you have a huge following there, then you ought to apply to porn. If you get maybe 3 likes a week, it's possible you are reaching the wrong market for that, but it's also possible that you're not suited to that. Fucking is one thing, and many regular guys can do it well, but they aren't porn-worthy. This also comes down to if they can act, how active they are in scenes, what their skill set includes, and whether they photograph well. Some guys just don't despite their good looks.

It's not an easy business to break into and there's not much money in it anymore. It's a side hobby that can be lucrative or a huge wasteful investment. Not a lot of grey area. Either one succeeds, or they don't.

This isn't very encouraging, I know, but it's the reality. Plus there's unrest in the business right now with racist/misogynist/abusive producers and actors, so if you are in a minority category, your chances will naturally be a little lower than others. Something else to consider.

I started out on the cams for Randy Blue, and Flirt4Free. That got me comfortable with the camera and an audience, and a forum for doing what I liked. That's hard as a solo sometimes, but you said you've done this for X-tube. With the cams, they generally don't turn people away. This may be a good place to get started and get your name out before the public. It will be slow at first, and that's completely normal when you are an unknown quantity, but if you are consistent with it and put in your best, it can turn out for you. Then applying to studios will make a slightly longer resume when you've cammed for nine months or something. (Don't take that to be the required number - it can be more or less depending on your audience and quality of work.)

If you live in a major metropolis market (or near one), you might also try hooking, and listing yourself on RentMen and such sites. That can pay very well depending on available clients and whether you can do a good job, but it's also inconsistent and unpredictable. When I did that, I went two months without a single client at the end of my hooking days. It was just the nature of the business and the times I was living in.

Hope this helps. It's a lot!

You are absolutely correct. I have been with and known a few porn stars.  Porn is not where they make their money. They use porn to make a name for themselves and then do escort engagements and that’s where they make their money.

Thank you for sharing your insight.  Been curious about it, but no real drive, so guessing not for me.  As for being 'stand out' that would not be how I would describe myself.  Pretty average here, bottom, so guessing little demand.

As a guy that does porn and companionship stuff the posters are spot on. I would add from my experiences as a pig bottom that the same reason a guy like me has a circle of guys standing around him in a sex club or the like watching me take guy after guy fucking and fisting my hole for  VERY long period of time is the same reason most aren't cut out for porn. Filming takes far longer than the final product after you are plowed in multiple positions from multiple angles. When I first started out and shot for KeptSecretXXX--the guy is a human stallion on 2 legs--his cameraman commented to me late in the shoot it was one of the smoothest shoots he'd ever done. I asked what he meant by that and he said he had seen guys tap out after 5 minutes or need long rest breaks before being able to continue. I have just let him plow me or several hours and was about to roll over for him to fist me (for what went a good half hour or so of that). Most guys don't ave that kind of endurance. You really in some ways have to be a sexual  freak of Nature to handle long use like that. Most sex acts when you look at them take less than 10-15 minutes from penetration to cum load.

I got into porn first by doing a spread in Inches magazine then having a studio call me who saw it. From one studio to the next you acquire a reputation as good or bad. I got a good reputation as being professional so I made it a career for 15 years and thus got asked to perform at parties, etc til I started gogo dancing and then escorting before getting cancer and now just getting back into everything. Its a lot of luck but if chosen a lot of hard fun work!

Easiest way is to hit the sex clubs and sex resorts and just let guy after guy openly use you. Will be difficult to fully achieve this year due to all the Covid restrictions, but in normal years it's easy to get frequent high volume use.

Thanks, just that so many restrictions or closed clubs, difficult to get used right now, or just don't meet enough guys... common problem.

I knew three guys in Dallas who had done porn and this jibes with what they had said. None of them were looks-wise what I'd call Porn star hot. They were OK looking, but it was their dick and how good they fucked that got them into porn. I've had two offers to do them but I've heard enough of the downside of Porn from my buds to know it wasn't a good idea, especially if I wanna have a job and a career. Two of the three were high school drop outs, had trouble with their family and the law, and for them porn was a way to get easy money as was hustling and other side hustles they did. Neither had what i'd a call a good or reliable job. The third guy was an anomaly...he did it to pay for his schooling along with dancing/stripping and hustling. He never ran into trouble with the law and now works in tech which is pretty open on stuff in your background like that. So far no one at his job has said they recognize him...so far so good. As tempting as it seems apparently shooting porn is not that fun as blocking the shots, getting the lighting right, and such means you stop and start a lot and it takes a while to get it just right. The one guy still does behind the scenes stuff but says he hasn't had anything scheduled since Covid as most of the shooting has shut down. The studio guy he works with says there's high demand for new porn but there's concerns over exposure to Covid and they can't take the risk. Apparently some studios are still making porn and taking their changes.

And what if you want to do porn not for the money ,but for the fame and experience?

Two ways to approach this, then.

One is the do-it-yourself way. Get some top buddies willing to fuck you on camera, set up for filming, and go for it. Post on JFF or OF or whatever. All the work's on you, but you control the product and can work as much or as little as you choose.

The other is to go commercial. In that case, though, whether *you* want to do it for fame/experience, as opposed to money, doesn't matter one iota. The company's going to have to spend money: to rent or maintain its locations, to pay its crew, to pay the post production people, to pay for permits, to pay for a million little things that go into the product.

In turn, that means they have to see a path to making money via you, regardless of what *you* want to get out of the deal. Which means they're not much more likely to take you on as an actor in porn films because you're more interested in the experience as opposed to money. And there are union considerations; I don't know that APAG has implemented collective bargaining for minimum pay, etc., but you nonetheless need to be aware of them.

A lot of porn actors have been discovered because of their amateur work. Maybe you should try XTube and Twitter, If you have enough fans you can start an OF or JFF. Then see if any studios would go for it. It also depends on the type of porn you want to do. More Raunchy/Nasty materials and "clean cut" major studios have different requirements.
