Has anyone else been noticing that there are frequent timeouts when trying to load pages? Eventually the pages load but this is a new thing. I've noticed it from three different devices (Mac, iPhone, iPad) so it's not the device. Other sites load just fine (including some very large downloads I've done the past few days of system updates), so I don't think it's my internet connection.

RawTop? I held off on reporting this because I thought it might just go away. Thanks for all you do.

I'm having that problem, with BBRT, but not here. What browser(s) are you using? iPad and iPhone I'm assuming Safari, but how about on your Mac? Have you tried quitting and coming at it fresh?

One possibility is that your ISP is trying to snoop on what you do (using a reverse proxy server). When they see I've got security set up here so that's impossible, they may just connect you properly. To test for that, turn off WiFi on your iPhone and connect via the cellular network and see if the problems persist (or use your iPhone to create a hotspot for your other devices so they too use the cellular network). If there's no problem on your cell network, then the problem is with your ISP.

I'm using Safari on all three devices.  I might think it was my ISP (Cox, haha) but I don't see this problem anywhere else, even on other porn/adult sites.

I just tried viewing your response using Safari, Firefox and Chrome on my Mac and Chrome connected more quickly than the others. It's a weird problem.

I've had problems with a MacBook Air (M1) running macOS Big Sur 11.2.3 not letting me into the chat room, where I get this message every time:

Redirect URL not specified.

Array ( [error] => UserID and/or BrowserID was invalid ( / 19589113). ) 1

Debug: UUID Cookie. E64588F4-94AD-45B5-90D7-E9A454815BB1 BID: 19589113

I don't get this when I log in on a Windoze 10 PC, so maybe it's something to do with operating system incompatibility.

Hi - I’m getting a lot on my iPhone the past week as well.  Some links are fine but maybe 3/4 say I’ve lost my connection.   This never happened before to my knowledge…

It’s been largely unusable the last couple of weeks. I’m on an iPad Air. It’s  a a great site so thank you for all you do to keep it running.

I’m having a similar issue on iOS using safari too, having no such issues with barebuddy, barebackrt, thisvid, newtumblr or dozens of other websites. Basically it either takes a long time to do something or times out altogether. Sometimes repeatedly hitting a link will work.

I’m in the U.K. with a 900mbit/sec down and 100mbit/sec fibre connection.

I’ve tried dozens of sites and this has only happened in the past week or so.

I'm relieved to learn that I'm not the only one who's had difficulty. About 10 days or 2 weeks ago, pages began to load slowly and invariably, the request timed out. It's not just moving to the next page in the topic thread or to the next topic in the forum; it also happens when I try to post a comment in response to a post. If I'm using Safari (version 14.1) (I'm on mac OS 11.3.1 [Big Sur]), about half the time, I can get the page to load by hitting "reload page." If I'm using Chrome (version 90.0.4430.93), the request will time out, but Chrome loads the page about 3 seconds later. I've cleared the cache on Safari a couple of times, but that didn't improve the situation (I regularly clear the cache on Chrome). The problem also occurs when I use my iPad (6th generation; iPad OS 14.5.1).

I doubt it's my ISP (Charter, if anyone was idly wondering); I use Cloudflare WARP (and have since they hooked up with Mozilla to offer secure DNS traffic) to keep nosy parkers out of the DNS logs. I've noticed that the problem seems to be worse midday, say from 11 am to 3 or 4 pm. Needless to say, I don't have the problem with any other websites. Thanks in advance for anything you can do about this. More generally, thanks for everything you've done and do to keep BZ running.

Same for me, using Safari on an iPhone or an iPad. From the messages, it seems to be a problem on Apple devices. I wonder if it’s related to the latest iOS update?

Those of you on computers - please try another browser, like Firefox, and let me know if you see the problem there.

In my experience Safari is a bit of a weak browser. I run Twitter in 5 different browsers (different accounts in each) and Safari is the only one that has problems. It constantly gives me memory warnings and auto-play of videos just ceases pretty quickly when I'm browsing. It's probably my least favorite browser (Firefox is my favorite.)

Based on all your reports it feels like a bad version of Safari got pushed out. Nothing has changed on this site in the time period that's being discussed.

I was seeing this with other browsers (Firefox and Chrome) on my Mac OS machine (11.3.1) as well.

But of course, I just tried a. bunch of clicks through the site and all of them responded just fine, loading quickly without hesitation. With both Firefox and Safari.

This is very very strange.

It occurs to me that one difference between BZ and all those other sites that seem to work fine is that it uses one of the "expanded" top-level domains. That suggests it could be a DNS issue. I know the ISP I use for mail and web services does not provide them, for example. And I have observed in the past that when my internet gets wonky, it's just as often a DNS problem as it is one of actual connectivity.

Maybe if the issue resurfaces, those who are experiencing it could try the experiment of hitting some other sites in the expanded top-level space to see whether they also exhibit the problem.

I have also noticed similar slow load times over the last couple of days whilst using BZ on my iPhone.
The issue occurs whilst using my ISP connection and via the cellular network.

I predominately use Apple devices (iPhone & MacBook) the issue occurs in both Safari & FireFox web browsers.

My MacBook does seem to load pages faster, where my primary browser is FireFox.
But even in Safari on my MacBook does seem better than on my iPhone.

Ping times to the server are fairly consistent (from Australia).  But I don't have a previous baseline to compare it with.

There was a recent update to iOS 14.5 that was installed a couple of days ago, and the issues seem to have started around the same time.
iOS 14.5.1 has just been released.  Hopefully that may resolve the issue 🤞🤞

I will provide an update after the 14.5.1 has been installed.

I've just finished applying the iOS 14.5.1 update and BZ now seems to load normally now.

I would recommend anyone having issues on an Apple device to apply this latest iOS update and see how that goes.
