Those of us who have lived places like that miss it if we leave. The kid I was talking to, was probably in his 30's, but if he has lived in the PNW his entire life, it is easy to understand why he doesn't believe that kind of scene exists outside of the porn fantasy world. They really don't know what they are missing. I know it was quite a shock when I moved from Denver to Portland, they are similar sized cities, but the gay hookup scene is totally different from anywhere else I had ever lived.

I spent a lot of time in Chicago in my early to mid 20s, and while I wasn't hitting the tubs yet, I can vouch that spontaneous orgies springing up in all of the other places you listed occured on a regular basis 30 years ago.

That's one thing the Chgo cops were very careful about:  There were (and still are, I'm sure) very powerful guys downtown that love to hit the parks/cruise spots, all of that.  The Chgo cops would come driving into the area with their cop lights flashing, talk tough to the cruisers, but only to a certain point. 

They'd be far more likely to just scold everyone, chase us away, rather than risk just hauling everyone in (along with some guy that could get them fired the next morning). 

Besides - the cops all knew that a little envelope would be waiting at the end of all the bars every Fri afternoon ... if no boats got rocked.  A cut of something was better than a cut of nothing.

I resent anyone who lives outside of SW Florida, better known as "Heaven's Waiting Room".  Filled with retirees, an almost "police state" atmosphere, where  most of the "fun"  bars are gone.    Yes there are hook up sites and apps, but what better way to live then to walk out your front door and go to your local watering hole/fuckjoint for some good old fashioned fun.  I am so jealous of guys who can ride public transportation after 7 pm at night.  I miss the nights of riding home on the subway at 2 am, always making sure I am in the car with the policeman and his dog in case I nodded off.

Oh how I envy you - those in NYC, Philly, San Fran (I walked there), and assorted other places where I could be a total pig and stumble home without fear of being arrested.  Now I know members will say MOVE!, pull up all your roots and go north you middle aged man, but I have doctors and COMMITMENTS (God help me) that I just can't walk away from.

@TallAussieBtm - I agree with you, sometimes a greedy cumdump can TRY to monopolize things, I usually leave it up to the host to control that.  However, I have had a total of eight guys in my living room and when I heard some complaining about "not getting enough dick" I had the guy dressed and out the door in about ten minutes.

You can only allow so much, I don't care if they think I am controlling it's my house and you'll behave accordingly. While I am well aware that the CumUnion events you describe happen in many places, it hasn't really happened here. 

The very 1st CumUnion and the 1st after COVID were as close to mass orgies as you can get here, but what you described was never a regular occurrence here.

And insofar as entrapment goes: it's very, very hard to allege "entrapment" as a defense for something you actually did. The courts have never exactly outlined the contours of how far law enforcement can go, in terms of tempting someone to commit a crime, but it's fairly far.

The legal definition of entrapment comes from a case called Jacobson v. United States, which held that "Government agents may not originate a criminal design, implant in an innocent person's mind the disposition to commit a criminal act, and then induce commission of the crime so that the Government may prosecute." That breaks down to two elements: the government's origination of the criminal design (that is, they made the plan) and inducement of an innocent person into committing said crime.

With respect to being arrested for cruising: a gay man caught sucking dick at night in a park known for sex is never going to get away with an entrapment defense, because there's really no reason for anyone to believe he was there for completely innocent reasons, and given the park's reputation, the government didn't originate the criminal design.

Contrast that with, say, government agents deciding to cook up a bribery scheme and dangling information about (for example) a lobbyist willing to make substantial campaign contributions in exchange for votes on a bill. In that case, the government originated the scheme, and set out to entice people who otherwise might never have even considered taking a bribe. That presents a much tougher prosecution, especially if the politician resists being bought off until after steadily increasing pressure is brought on him.

I'm sure there were undercover cops in the snitzier areas of the northern burbs (Evanston, for instance), around N'Western U) Wilmette, Winnetka,  but I can't remember hearing about undercover cops in the city.  The cops who did grab guys off the streets/parks were in full uniforms, in regulation police cars with the blue lights on the roof blazing.  It wasn't all that tough to evade them, particularly in Lincoln Park (along the lakefront.  Most guys cruised on their bikes - at least at that time.
