Since I have prescriptions to take morning and evening, I generally take 3-4 PUR after lunch which separates it pretty well in time like @Oldercumslut was talking about. I like it because it gets me psyllium, chia, and flax all together.

It doesn't replace douching, but it sure makes it go easier.

A tablespoon of Metamucil in a glass of water every night. Part of my routine. I stay so much cleaner.
a bigger issue is making sure that I don't use too much water when douching. You just want to clean the anus and rectum. Once into the colon you unleash a lot.

I'm on a clinical weight loss program and I need to get more dietary fiber.  But when I look at the nutritional panel on things like Metamucil it looks like it basically has almost none in there?  What's a good product that would help on my diet and also help keep things cleaned out?

I use whole psyllium husk (i.e. not ground to a powder) - Trader Joe's (and many other outlets) carries the NOW brand which works well for me. I find the whole husks stick together better on the way out than the powder does. It is 70% dietary fiber by weight (7g fiber per 10g serving size).

Thanks for the suggestion.  That sounds like something I should check out.  I am supposed to get 22g of dietary fiber a day and I find it a struggle to get more than 1/2 that reliably.  About every 3-4 days I will go over, sometimes way over, but a lot of days I'm only getting 6-10g.  It would probably be a lot better if there was something I could take daily and more on days when I am running short.

It isn't super critical on my diet, the main goals are to keep under the daily calorie count, get at least 135g of Protein a day and stay under 150g of Carbs.  I've also got a fat gram number I'm supposed to try to stay under but they say it isn't critical as long as I'm getting the Protein in and not going over carbs or calories.

Making things easier to clean out would just be a really nice extra, because that can be a chore sometimes.

Having read this helpful thread, I got Psyllium Husk fibre with probiotics 4000mg from Amazon.

experience some bloatedness initially, but now it makes my routine much easier. Not having to use endless amount of toilet rolls and just a quick douche is sufficient for my next hookup.

Thanks guys !

My routine is a bit complicated but I am very pleased with the results:  I use the Costco (aka Kirkland) equivalents of sugar-free Metamucil (Kirkland Psyllium Husk) and Benefiber (Kirkland Opti-fiber).  I take a container of both and mix them together then I repackage.  It's messy because of the dust both products produce; I have to do this in the tub with the shower curtain closed and then rinse the tub clean when I'm done.  But that way I only have to deal with one container.

Using this fiber powder mixture, I take 3 tbsp in the morning, and 3 tbsp before bed.  That plus regular movement/exercise and I have fabulous regularity.  That's why I go through the labor of combining both products together.

I've also discovered the benefits of using a bidet.  Done right, it can also be used to give yourself an enema.  Combine a bidet with fiber and exercise, and I've never been cleaner.  😃

If you are taking medications, it is generally best to take fiber supplements at least 1 hour before or 2-4 hours after your medication to avoid potential interactions where fiber could interfere with the absorption of your medication; always consult your doctor or pharmacist for specific guidance regarding your medications and fiber intake.

I have heard that it can interfere with absorbing PrEP. My doctor told me to space out fiber away from my PrEP doses +/- 3 hours, so that seems to line up with your advice too.

I take three psyllium husk capsules with a meal that's low in fiber. Otherwise I rely on a high fiber diet.

Please make sure any supplement you bottoms are taking containing flax seed are finely milled (ground) and do not contain any whole flax seed.

Why is that Sir?

Whole flax seed is not digested. Some come out intact.

This may be TMI but it might be useful to some:

I first started having sex with men at 22 in 2001. I was really excited to get fucked, since I started arse play already at 12 years old. I had worries about faecal matter, but I guess when I was finally about to get fucked, that worry slipped out of my mind. Back then I’d never heard of douching and I don’t recall it coming up as a practice in any of my web searches on anal play at that time.

It turns out that I was lucky because up until age 33, I’d only had two experiences where there was any faecal matter present when I bottomed. Both instances were because I'd only eaten cashews all day, the other was when I’d only eaten mangoes all day.

Tops in my 20s never asked before hand about my preparation, and my gay friends never brought up the subject, so I just assumed that all those derogatory terms like “fudge packers” were just pure homophobia.

When I started to douche in my early 30s it was because I was eating so many greens that sometimes little pieces of lettuce or kale would end up on the guy’s dick. So I got a shower hose douche attachment, and there was a learning curve. I had to learn that I was using too much water that went too deep. After my first time douching, I got fucked by a super hot guy who lived just down the street from me. 10 min in there was some tinged liquid coming out and sadly it was the end of that connection since he never contacted me again after that. It happened next with a big dicked guy and I had recently gotten into juicing beetroot with carrots; when the water came out he thought I was bleeding. Both times were mortifying. I soon after did some reading online and got used to douching effectively, and it didn’t seem to have any ill effects if it were done daily, as I was having a lot of sex back then.

8 years ago I moved to a rural place for my work, and sex is pretty rare for me here. Hose-end shower attachments are out of the question because the water is rainwater catchment and there are parasitic nematodes in the water. Eventually I figured out that if I swallowed a dozen psyllium capsules with each meal (I always drink a lot of water with them) I was good for fucking. The only times I abstain is if my bowel movements are irregular (e.g. IBS) or I can feel that there is a bm pending. I buy them in bulk at Costco and always have some in the car too. Only about 0.5% of the time is there any issue even with big cocks, and I don’t miss douching. If I lived in a place with safe municipal water again, I might use a shower douche again, but I am really glad that this works for me. I look back with gratitude on my 20s as a lucky time when my arsehole was magically clean.

It might be worth mentioning that I don’t eat meat, and aside from yogurt I don’t eat much dairy. I wish I had more greens in my diet these days, but it’s something I’m working on. I know that when I eat brown rice or muesli, my bms are the best.

I used to use loose psyllium (cheaper than capsules but too messy for eating away from home) which works well if I had a heaping teaspoon, but it is messy and where I live the humidity is always so high that moulds quickly.

I've also used the loose Metamucil but don't like the flavours and somehow it doesn't bind things as tightly and cleanly as the larger size loose unground psyllium husks. Metamucil may be good for bm regularity but in my experience it doesn't cut it as a douching replacement.
