What I like about Inn Leather is that I am not constantly being warned about my behavior.  Case in point - I stayed at a place by the beach that was combined with a formerly straight guest house.  Now , right across the street, was a high rise condo - and sure, residents could see the pool area. The owner, who was nice to be during the construction phase, was having no part of me being nude by the pool. I was like WTF, isn't that what I am paying for?  There were European guys there, who were nude, and he said nothing to them.  For me, it was like, put your bathing suit back on.   After two days, he said that he was over booked and I was going to be transferred to another guest house, that I could actually see from my current spot.  The owner was a jovial guy from Minnesota, who had a handyman/bf perhaps who I know I had hooked up with at the baths in Fort Lauderdale in years past.  He didn't care if I was naked. I wasn't out there sucking dick or in a sling, I knew I wasn't in Palm Springs for God's sake.  But he didn't care if I used the float in the pool to lay around naked.  Those two locations were moderately expensive, but again, it was not the "scene" that Inn Leather offers.

I can say on weekends the crowd is much younger, guys who are off from work come up for day passes,  Sometimes during the week locals come in, but to say everyone is in their 60s. that was not my experience,  There were guys who had booked rooms, who were from out of state, that were in their 30s and 40s, some 50s, mostly 'couples" who enjoyed the freedom that Inn Leather offers you.

No, it's not full of frills, it's just a clean "fuck joint" where you can be yourself, enjoy the sling and if you are so inclined you can leave your curtains open and see who might just want to pop in for a minute and "pop" into you, if you are lucky.   If someone fears there is rampant drug use, I can tell you I did not see anything in the open with the exception of someone smoking weed.  No one was openly doing meth, something I saw first hand in Palm Springs with the owner of the now defunct Inn Exhile standing right behind me, watching the guy.  So Inn Leather  did not have the "methy" kind of atmosphere that I have seen referenced here.  Maybe all the self righteous, judgmental individuals on this platform want to spend the extra 50 or 75 dollars a night so that they aren't offended by the use of party favors.  Frankly, at Inn Leather it was my experience that it was all done behind closed doors.

I am sorry to hear someone had a bad experience there because I found the guys in Lauderdale to be a bit younger than those in Palm Springs, especially week day passes.  I have spent multiple vacations in both areas and that is just my opinion.  Maybe the poster was just there on an "off week" perhaps??

htnhole, do you remeber a place called the Brigantine? in FTL?

Well, no .... I moved here from Chicago about 15 years ago.  I do remember the Cubby Hole though - now it's gone, thanks to the mayor's thirst for "urban renewal" - look alike midrise apts block after block after plastic block.  It was immediately South of SearsTown, which has also been torn down.

Was it the kind of joint it sounds like it was?

It was a nice clothing optional guest house with a couple of dozen rooms. Pool, hot tub, guest passes, play areas. Very clean, awesome owners. I went there in the late 90's.

I remember a bar in Lauderdale called the Cubby Hole.  Small place, a pool table just as you walked in the door.  Didn't have much business but the one time I was there a hot man came out of nowhere and fucked the hell out of me in a bathroom stahl.  He left first, and then I came back and ordered a Corona.

Uncomfortable thing about that situation was I ran into the owner/bartender at an IGBO event (International Gay Bowling Organization) and he remembered me as the blonde guy coming out of his men's room pulling up his pants and trying to get his tank top back on.  Apparently he and his partner/husband owned the place.  I think it was on Sunrise but I could be mistaken.  A real "hole in the wall" type of bar, but I did just fine there.  I often wonder if it is still in business.

Cubby Hole

Yup .... over by SearsTown.  I remember it well too - but it's life was taken in the name of urban renewal, dammittall.  That whole area is gone now.  Just SW of that block (6th, 8th Ave,) there are nothing but new, midrise condo buildings.  Blocks and blocks of them, with the attendant newly minted mothers pushing baby carriages, the whole panoply of boring nothingness.

The bartender had a lineup of electric frying pans on the backbar - he'd fix you a sandwich, a bag of chips and a beer for a few bucks.  The bar went from the front of the bar to about 3/4 the way to the back of the bar, but curved around to meet the wall about 3/4 of the way to the back wall.  Thus, you could sit at the bar, have a nice little freshly-made lunch and a beer, and merely walk around the corner of the bar for some "dessert".  The Cocksuckers would line up, sitting on the foot-rail, and all you had to do was pause for a moment and some guy would be sucking your Cock in an eyeblink.  And, as you point out, the johns were always busy.  So busy, that they only allowed fucking in the men's john - the ladies john was reserved for actual pissing and .... well .... 'nuff said.  Everyone parked on the street behind the bar, and came in by the back door.  I don't think I ever saw anyone come or go via the front door.

A couple of years ago, I was walking back from some errand - don't remember what - and some guy was coming towards me on the sidewalk wearing an old Cubby Hole t-shirt.  I tried to buy it, but he wouldn't part with it.  Frankly, if it were me, I wouldn't have peddled it either.

Thanks for that.  I am glad I don't seem to have early stage dementia.  I know it was a life time ago, what really hit home was when you mentioned every one coming in the back door. To be honest, I don't ever remember seeing the front door, you spent more time in there than I did.  I don't ever recall walking into a bar and almost immediately getting nailed in the men's room.  Like I said, I was embarrassed, I felt I better buy a beer considering they allowed me to have sex with no questions asked.  I bought that Corona,  and I left by the back door.  It all happened so fast I have to tell you, to this day I still can't rap my mind around that place.  When I was there, it seemed to be empty, except for the guy who did me the favor of shoving his dick in me and leaving some DNA behind.  The bartender was so nonchalant, I just remember how small and unassuming that bar appeared when I initially drove by it, and for some reason I went back and found where to park and, well, the rest I have already talked about.

I am so sorry to hear that area is gone.  All in the name of urban renewal, that sucks. I hate to say this, but, I am not a fan of "change".  I wish some things would just stay the same but I know my opinion is not shared by many.  Thanks again...

That's why I feel sorry forr the younger guys. They will never ever know the joys we had back in the day. All the apps in the world will never measure up to the cruising we got to experience. I feel all that is left are our memories.
