NHeat Posted Saturday at 03:26 AM Report Posted Saturday at 03:26 AM Last night I was gooning hard. I was in a Zoom with a bunch of hot guys stroking and huffing. I got a little eager and my poppers splashed onto my upper lip. Today I feel like my lip is burned. Sucks but I guess that's the price to play. Only other poppers issue was when they spilled in my pocket during some ABS darkroom adventures. Didn't hurt my skin but bleached and ruined my shorts. Oh well. Quote
Hungryforbbc Posted Saturday at 04:20 AM Report Posted Saturday at 04:20 AM Had a date mix up the poppers and the lube he poured the poppers all over the outside of my hole before I realized what was happening and immediately jumped into the shower. Fortunately I didn’t have any serious burns but it sure fucked up the mood. Now I make sure the two are always on different tables Quote

meetme Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago I really think we should call them what it says on the bottle, video head cleaner. H W Bush took poppers off the market. Amyl was a delightful medically used compound., for what , 70 years or so. Way down the chemical road is anything you’d find for sale today. Completely unregulated, formerly sold as room deodorizer, the only thing you can be sure of is it cost Pennies to produce. You buy those brown bottles based on an old memory of something you may have enjoyed a long time ago. If a guy walks into my room at the baths and asks for poppers before he touches me, he’s just another airplane glue sniffer and the sex ends there Quote
Moderators viking8x6 Posted 4 hours ago Moderators Report Posted 4 hours ago I never had any issues with them until about 2 weeks ago, when I got some rather nasty burns (not yet healed) on the skin at the entrance to my nostrils. I certainly didn't splash any on me, but it is possible that my nose touched the (possibly moist) bottle. I've been thinking about the incident and doing a bit of research since. What was different than other times I used them? 1. I used to store them in the refrigerator, but I haven't been doing that recently because of a shared living situation. 2. I was using them more frequently, and therefore opening and closing the bottle more often. 3. I was using them from a small bottle that I was refilling from a larger bottle (to avoid opening the larger one so often). Buckle your seatbelts, time for some science! Poppers decompose fairly easily (fact). At least one of the by-products of decomposition catalyzes the decomposition and makes it proceed faster (fact). At least one of the by-products of decomposition is nitric acid (fact). I've never had a problem with burns from a fresh bottle of poppers, even when I spilled them on my skin (fact). At the time I got burned, I had noticed during both that session and the session before that the poppers had a "sharp" smell to my nose (like horseradish or wasabi), which is characteristic of strongly acidic vapors. My hypothesis is that the burns are caused by nitric acid, which comes from the degradation of the poppers over time. I'm planning to do some experimentation (not on my nose!) to probe this further, when I get around to it. Further note: Some poppers are sold with a small round white ball in the bottle. I don't know for sure, but I believe this is probably a small ball of an alkaline substance such as lye or washing soda, which can absorb the acid as degradation occurs, thereby keeping it from catalyzing further degradation. There is a patent from the 1950s on using such alkalies for this exact purpose. 1 1 Quote
Poz50something Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Sure have had this issue, but that was about 26 years ago. I spent a weekend in the summer getting rogered and railed, by a Randy Southern gent and his partner, when I lived in Athens, Ga., going to UGA (don’t ask me to repeat the barks from the cartoon dog at the movie theatre at Tate Center -if you know, you know. I have my limits.) I think it was around Labour Day that it happened…. Even then, I was a barebacker, even if I wasn’t aware of it. I spent 3 whole days fucking on poppers, and I had burn marks around my nostrils. I wonder if refrigerating the popper bottle helps to prolong the freshness? Does that delay the degradation of the formula? I have discovered the super sniffer, and it has been a revolution in popper use safety. It can prevent spills and the dreaded burn around the nostrils.
