I have participated in CHEST studies before and highly recommend them. They really are completely non-judgmental. They accept you as you are. PORTaURINAL has actually become a personal friend of mine, so this is an interesting development... Good news in this case! The judge has said that spreading HIV is not attempted murder since it's unlikely anyone will die. However, the case is going forward as a sexual assault case. Still, one would hope this would reduce prosecutor's zeal to go forward with these types of cases in the future. -
On BBRT there's the HIV status "Don't Care". I'm never sure what that means... I'd understand "Don't Care" for "Your Status", but what does it mean as the person's status? That they're neg and don't care if they become poz? Or is it the status for the guys who just never get tested - but isn't "Not Sure" a more appropriate status for those guys? Or does it mean they're poz and ignoring it? Thing is, I get the sense that some long-time poz guys have it as their status. They might even be on meds. If they're on meds it would seem they're beyond "Don't Care" - they're actually addressing the situation. I never know quite what to think when I see "Don't Care" - how do you guys interpret it?

Agreed. I would add that what the data show is huge benefits from taking ARVs once your t-cells get down to a certain level. The advantages of taking them before then are still a point of discussion (IMHO). Taking them early stops you from infecting someone else, but you increase the risk of long-term adverse reactions to the drugs.
