There is 'barebacking' and then there is 'stealthing' - I don't think they are the same. If you know you are negative (so you get tested regularly, are 100% top, whatever - but you KNOW you are neg) and you fuck a hole without a condom but they think you have a condom on you are NOT stealthing them. I think there is a difference between a rough fuck, and a top who totally pushes you beyond what you normally would take willingly. That's tricky because each of us has different bodies that react differently. I've got my own routine that is about 95% accurate and has me going all night if I want to. However, I know some people who have no routine at all and they don't have any issues either playing around. I'm not sure how old you are but I noticed a change as I got older where it's become a little harder, or at least more of a process, to get really cleaned out. Where I just moved I found a doctor last month and got tested, everything fine but sure enough there were signs posted all over the doctor's office indicating that syphilis was going around big time and has apparently been spiking up for some time. My job has moved me around the past several years and in each city there seems to be an outbreak of STDs, specifically syphilis. On another thread there is a discussion on how often people are getting tested for HIV, but for me the bigger concern is how often are guys getting tested for all STDs period. I've just moved again in the past 3 months and in my current city once again I've found that there is an outbreak of syphilis. So how do you know you are negative if you haven't been tested in over 10 years? You can't tell just by how you feel or by looking in the mirror. Just curious to know why you seem to be very certain you are negative.

Half of my family is in the US and the other half are in Canada so I see both worlds. Based on my experience only I've found that there are many, many more guys who are comfortable barebacking in Canada. I'm not sure if their healthcare system is part of their decision to bareback but I imagine knowing that they will have insurance in place if they get HIV probably allows some Canadians the ease of mind they need to go ahead and do it. I agree with the other posters but what strikes me as odd is that even in the gay community there are still these 'myths' about HIV - this one being that you can get another strand of HIV from another HIV+ person. I do think there are a lot of people, including those in the HIV medical field, who will not tell the truth hoping that they can steer HIV+ people to safe sex practices regardless of the medical facts. I think there is a lot more of this going on than people think. -
