What age did you start taking loads in your ass and by whom?

If you're only topping, there is a small chance you could turn poz eventually but it would probably take a very long time indeed...if it even happens. Start bareback bottoming however, and your risk will sky rocket. That said, most HIV positive people KNOW they are infected and are on meds (and most of those... Or at least a large number of them...are undetectable). There is a minority of guys who are poz but unaware of the fact (and who have high viral loads due to being unmedicated) but your chance of infection even from them is small for one off exposures ...to be successfully pozzed, you would likely have to have quote a few bareback exposures to such individuals. Now throw into the mix the many thousands (yes, thousands not hundreds) of guys who are on PrEP (like myself) and those who use PEP after bb sex and those who use condoms...a person's risk of actually getting HIV in London (and perhaps much of the Western world) is actually now quite low. What I say may sound too good to be true to you, if you are someone who wants to avoid infection, but it is backed up and reflected by the stats which show a huge decrease in HIV infections ...in fact, HIV diagnosis rates are plummeting here in London. There is no room.for complacency, but I think we are drawing a close to the epidemic here in the UK (or certainly in London, at least). This is thanks to most poz guys being on meds, PrEP, PEP, condoms and the low risk of one-time single exposures anyway. All these factors combined are helping bring the epidemic to a close. If you DO want to get infected, I would suggest you don't start taking PrEP and become a bottom cumdump whore.

I don't normally entertain wacko conspiracy theories, but when it comes to one HIV/AIDS theory, I actually think there is a chance it could be true. Okay here's a breakdown of some facts: In the USA, the first state to legalise gay sex was Illinois in 1962 but it was illegal in all other states until after the Stonewall riots of 1969. The first case of AIDS was seen in 1979 by a doctor in New York City, Dr. Linda Laubenstein... when one of her patients (an openly gay man) came into her office with lesions which she diagnosed as Kaposi's Sarcoma (KS). Then other cases of KS and also cases of a rare but deadly form of pneumonia called Pneocystics Pneumonia (PCP) , began appearing almost exclusively in gay and bisexual men throughout the next couple years (1979-1981). Finally in 1981 some of these AIDS cases were reported in official literature for the first time and finally the world knew about AIDS. Now supposedly the average time from seroconversion with HIV to the time that symptoms begin to show (full blown AIDS) is 10 years. So with this in mind, if the first case of AIDS which was seen by Linda Laubenstein was in 1979, then that means her patient was possibly infected with the virus around 1969. And when huge numbers of people started to become sick with KS and PCP and other AIDS-related illnesses in the early and mid-1980s (the 1981-1985 period), this suggests that the average person among those people was infected with the virus in the early and mid-1970s. There was a teenager in St. Louis in Missouri who was diagnosed in 1968 with KS and who died a year later in 1969 from bronchial pneumonia. While he was still alive, doctors examined him and wrote in his medical records that his anus showed signs of being regularly penetrated. When he was questioned about his sex life, he was very cagey and reluctant to give answers. The doctors were baffled at how a young kid who was otherwise healthy, could come down with such serious and rare diseases. Samples of his blood were stored and in the late 1980s or 1990s , the very same doctors who had treated him back in 1968 and 1969 discovered that his blood contained antibodies to HIV and that he had therefore been HIV positive. I think this case is the earliest confirmed case of HIV in the entire USA. So if we bear in mind that the average time from initial infection to onset of AIDS symptoms is 10 years, then this poor young lad was possibly infected in 1958 (when he would have been a pre-pubescent child...which suggests he could have been raped by someone). Now let's remember gay sex was legalized in 1962 in Illinois (but the debate about legalization had been going on since at least the late 1950s). Let's also remember that people didn't start falling sick in really huge numbers until the early 1980s - 10 years after Stonewall. Basically, it seems really strange to me that the first infections probably occurred at a time when gay sex was first legalized, or was being considered of getting legalized and at a time homosexuality was starting to become accepted by the society. Seems really fishy to me. I honestly think this is highly suggestive of a man-made virus, authorized by the governments of the time or the medical community of the time who would have had ultra-conservative/homophobic values....to try and kill as many gay people as possible so that society would not have to tolerate a gay community which was able to express itself sexually within the law. Would be interested in what other people think? A man-made virus to wipe out gays from America/the world? I know it sounds crazy, but when we look at the evidence I've provided to back the theory up, is it really so crazy? Would love to know what others think.

I went to the sexual health clinic today and i got 3 more months supply of PrEP. But some bad news. The nurse asked me if I have ever been vaccinated against Hep B, and I said yes. I had the full course of 3 injections in 2013. I told him this, and he said "Well it hasn't worked very well. You've got very low immunity." And he said my number was 17. I didn't understand and I asked him what that meant. Basically, he said anything between 0 and 10 means you've got no immunity...and over 100 means you have strong immunity. So at 17, I have very low immunity. So I'm having to go through another 3 jabs for the Hep B. And this isn't all. He said my liver function tests (which had been taken during my initial PrEP consultation) had shown creatinine levels which were very high...112. I said I was concerned and he said "yes, you are right to be. It could indicate you have something seriously wrong with your kidneys, I'm afraid"....and he did some rapid testing of my urine but fortunately it showed nothing serious going on. He did say that it will have to be closely monitored, that he hoped creatinine levels will go down but it's not garaunteed that they will...he said if they remain this high over a long period of time or even if they go up, then he will refer me to a doctor who he said will most likely seriously consider whether I should come off PrEP We'll have to see what happens. So I learned I'm not protected against Hep B like I thought I was AND that there's a strong possibility that I might have to come off PrEP soon. What sad news to recieve after being on PrEP for only 3 months and just as I've started to enjoy barebacking without any fear or anxieties (due to being on PrEP).

I suppose when you think about it, given that most guys with HIV are aware of the fact they have it and are on medication... often undetectable... And that so many guys are on PrEP and then also that so many guys use condoms...the fact that a lot of guys use PEP after an exposure....AND the fact that one-time/single exposures carry low risk of transmission anyway..... All these things combined should mean that Bathhouses are nowhere near as dangerous for negative guys in terms of HIV risk today like they were in say the 1980s and early 90s. Thanks to all the factors I've just mentioned, I think it isn't farfetched to say that we are probably nearing the end of the HIV epidemic (in the Western world, that is).

Me too. I didn't test for something like 5 or 6 years. When I did eventually get tested again, I had gono and syph (which have both been treated and cured since). I fucked hundreds upon hundreds of guys in the 5 years or so before I got tested again and the majority of those guys I fucked bareback. I find it hard to believe I only got infected with only 2 STI's, given how many guys I'd ducked bareback...so I'm thinking even if you get an STI (like gono or chlyamidia etc) and don't get tested, maybe they just go away and clear up on their own after a certain amount of time? And BTW I would imagine PrEP has resulted in a rise in STI rates due to the fact that more people would be doing bareback (hence why they're on PrEP)...that's quite logical to assume, I'd have thought. But hey, it doesn't really matter as most STI's can be treated and cured easily, unlike HIV.

Have been taking PrEP daily but not done so for about just over a week ...almost 2 weeks. If I restarted taking it again, as a daily dosage, would I be protected again just as I was the first time when I was on the drug? Can you stop and then start PrEP again with the drug still acting effectively and providing adequate protection against HIV ?

Or maybe you mean drug resistant gono? If so, yes it's real but extremely rare, thank goodness.

Hey guys. So basically... I have this friend who I know from when he used to live in the UK (he lived in my town) but now he is gone back to his home country in eastern Europe. I was chatting to him on facebook last night and I was feeling horny (he doesn't know about my sexual orientation, btw... he thinks I'm straight). So from what you say, I should have adequate protection against HIV if I am taking my PrEP daily, but at varying times each day? Like for example,: 5pm today, 9pm tomorrow, 3pm the day after etc? So long as it's every day?

I take daily PrEP...and started off by taking it religiously at 5pm every day. But this only lasted a couple weeks and then I started slacking. By that I mean I haven't been taking it at the same time every day. But I have still been taking it daily. I have only missed one day so far (when I was about two weeks in) and have been taking it for almost 4 weeks now. The first time I took it at a different time other than 5pm, I realised I hadn't taken it and took it at 8pm. Then other days I did go back to 5pm but some days it has been at 7pm or 9pm or even as late as 11.45pm .....Basically, I have been taking it every day but my timings have been all over the place. I know some timing flexibility is OK, but as I say, it really is all over the place now and has got to the point where it is a different time almost every day!! Today it was 9pm and yesterday it was 4pm. Can I go on with PrEP like this? Am I still protected against HIV in this way? Can I continue barebacking or should I stop BB sex until I've got back into taking PrEP at the same time at the same time every day? I'm scared.

Nah, I doubt it. They've been saying a vaccine is only a few years away ever since the early days of the epidemic. Back in 1984 when HTLV-III (later renamed HIV) was discovered to be the cause of AIDS, scientists said a vaccine was about 2 years away!

Hi everyone. So, I've recently joined the PrEP community. I'm now taking part in the PrEP impact trial here in the UK. Anyway...my doctor told me during my PrEP consultation that I should avoid barebacking until I've been taking the PrEP for 7 days. He said this was because it will not be effective until after 7 days. So ok....i just googled it and Google gave me a link which says it takes 20 days for PrEP to work!! I don't know if my doctor is right or if Google is right! Can I start fucking raw after 7 days or do I need to wait for 20 days?

I went to the sexual health clinic and had my PrEP impact trial consultation today - the doctor did a rapid base test for HIV which was negative and he then gave me my PrEP after we discussed everything about it. I've decided to take it daily and I've been given Emtricitabine/Tenofovir disoproxil. It is one tablet every day. But the doctor said for my first day I must take two tablets. I took a tablet today once I returned home from the clinic at 3pm. Two hours later at 5pm I remembered that I was supposed to take two tablets for my initial dose on my first day, so I just took the other tablet then. Is this ok?

I live in London, England where it seems like the majority of people live in some type of shared accommodation (sometimes with friends but usually just with other random people). Also, I think London is a city of renters - fewer and fewer people actually own property here, it's just so unbelievably expensive - even a large proportion of very wealthy people in London are renting as opposed to owning. Because London has so many people (8 million is the official figure but there are around 2 million unaccounted for on official census, so it's probably actually 10 million or more) they are having to cram lots people together now. There are fewer houses and I think most people here now live in shared flats/apartments and rooms ...and that even goes for a lot of wealthy people with good careers. Anyway, to address your question, even in shared accommodation it is really easy to accommodate someone for "fun" if the other people you share with are out at the time or if you share but have a separate room from everyone else (like, if you're not living in a dorm room). But it's obviously better to bring casual fucks back to your place if you don't share, as this avoids the need to potentially explain to your flatmates who your "visitor" was or things like that. And for making noise while fucking, it's obviously so much better to be living all on your own.

The guy you're seeing is on meds, so the chance of him transmitting the virus to you are slim....and if he's undetectable, then there is no chance of transmission at all. But to your general question - can a 100% top get pozzed up by fucking a poz bottom? The answer is YES. It can and does happen. That said, I think it is rare. I myself am an uncut top who has barebacked hundreds of guys since 2013 (so five years), some of whom I knew were poz because they told me and others who I am sure would have been poz, undiagnosed and therefore unmedicated. And yet I am still negative (I got tested for the first time in about four years last month.....but while my HIV was negative, my syphilis and gonohrea was positive....i'm currently on treatment for the syph). I was so sure I would be poz. Even though I'm an exclusive top (I never bottom), I was convinced I was infected because of the number of random, anon, casual bareback fucks I have had in saunas, cruising places, hook-ups from grindr etc. I made an educated guess that I was poz based on the CDC number of 1 in 161 transmission for uncut poz topping. I've definitely fucked way more than 161 guys and I'm still neg. But there are total tops who swear they've never bottomed and yet they ended up with HIV. So it DOES happen. I just think that it's not as common. I think the majority of guys who get infected are bottoms and versatile guys. But the thing to remember is this: You can poz anytime. it can be your first time fucking bareback or it could be your 50th time or your millionth time....but it can happen at any moment and BB sex is definitely akin to a game of Russian Roulette.

I got tested for the first time in about five years a couple of weeks ago. In that five year period, I had barebacked somewhere in the region of 100 to 200 guys (I really can't say a number to be honest, because I lost count after 15 or so and just stopped trying to count...but somewhere in between 100 and 200 seems about right...although it could easily have even been over 200!!!). Despite being an exclusive top, I was certain that I must have pozzed and I was expecting my HIV result to come back poz. Because I'd barebacked so, so, so many guys and also because I am also uncut. I was so convinced that I was going to be told by the sexual health clinic that I was poz. But it turned out I wasn't. I had picked up only gono and syph (I've been treated for the gono and am currently undergoing treatment for the syph, which is a 4-week course of Doxycycline ...yes 4 fucking weeks. The doctor at the sexual health clinic said she thinks I'm in the "latent late stage" of syph, so they're having to hit it hard. She gave me the option of a penicillin shot in my ass, but I was too much of a coward for that and opted for the antibiotic tablets (Doxy) instead. Here in London there is currently an impact trial for PrEP and the clinic have booked me in for an impact trial consultation in February (they are fully booked up until then!! Which is good I guess... as it means so many guys must be wanting PrEP). So until I get on PrEP in February, I will do my best not to engage in any bb sex....although that's going to be difficult....and maybe I already have.....

I was just wondering if you did bareback while taking antibiotics for an STD such as syph or gono or chlamidyia, would the antibiotics act as a kind of PrEP for those particular infections and prevent reinfection?

I've read up on this a lot over the years. There hasn't been a single documented case of oral transmission of HIV in the entire history of the epidemic. There have been anecdotal cases, of course, but that is something entirely different. There are supposedly enzymes in the mouth which kill the virus upon entering the human mouth, and acids in the stomach I think. So even swallowing poz cum isn't a real risk...rather, a theoretical one. I could be totally wrong on everything I've just said, but this is what I've read on many, many sites.

@Breedthisslut Thanks for sharing your story. My doctor said she thinks I have been infected with the syph for a long time and that I am most likely in the "latent late stage". She said my titer is 1:4 which means I've probably been through the initial and secondary stages without even realising it but that now the bacteria is laying dormant and is not active (hence why I have no symptoms). She offered me the choice of a penicillin injection (in my ass) which she admitted most people find rather unpleasant/slightly painful, and a course of antibiotics (Doxycyclin) ....I opted for the latter. I have to take one tablets twice a day for the next four weeks! As for the gono, I was treated in the clinic (I had to swallow four tablets and get an injection in my ass which wasn;t too unbearable). I love barebacking, but this whole experience has made me wonder if it's worth it anymore. I'm scheduled for to start PrEP in February 2019 (they couldn't find an available impact trial slot for me until then!)

Got my results today. The clinic sent me a text asking me to call them. I did, and they told me I was negative for HIV but I had tested positive for both gonorrhea and syphilis. Going to the clinic at 9am tomorrow morning to collect my treatment for both diseases. Quite frightening to think that I have syphilis, a disease which, had antibiotics not been developed, would probably eventually result in serious complications leading to my death (I understand syphilis was the "AIDS of its day"). Getting on PrEP and can't wait.
