But in the last week or so have had very little sex drive. I was sick for a few days with the flu, but even since that basically no desire. No change in other medications (depression/anxiety) so wondering - has anyone had PrEP cause decrease in sex drive? I know antidepressants can sometimes cause this, but since I've been on for nearly a year seems strange that that would be the problem. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Case your body might just still be drained and instead of being tired it is manifesting as low sex drive, maybe cause it knows your usually working off a lot of energy that way. Sometimes just taking a weekend offf and sleeping the whole weekend is a good recharge for me at least. It's easy to get drained with work, travel, etc... Could be the anti-depressants. I know a lot of folk on anti-depressants who experience loss of sex drive issues. They are known to do that sometimes. seaguy Posted December 19, 2014 Report Share Posted December 19, 2014 Flu is peaking in the Seattle area this week and next and this years flu shot is not as effective as it could be but it is still better than nothing there has been one death already. You probably would have noticed your sex drive dropping when you first started taking the antidepressant. When I was trying to find the right one I found it only took a few days before I was able to say ok Paxil is not gonna work cause my sex drive was gone and I could not even get into porn. I just checked Gilead (the manufacturer's) website and read through all the side effect information (on all the tabs there). Nothing about sex drive, libido, etc. You're probably just still recovering from the flu. Last time I had the flu (standard, normal winter influenza) I was wiped out for a few weeks before I felt totally back to 100%. And I was in my early 30s then with no other health problems. seaguy Posted December 20, 2014 Report Share Posted December 20, 2014 All of the SSRI (Prozac, Paxil, etc) antidepressants list sexual side effects such as lower libido, sex drive but usually you can find one that does not have that side effect for you. sinfuljock Posted December 21, 2014 Author Report Share Posted December 21, 2014 I don't think it's the antidepressant since I've been on basically the same medicine for over a year with only slight dosage adjustments and not even any of those recently. The flu was pretty bad and Seattle is close to Portland so I'd assume if it's peaking here it is here too. I have several friends that are sick right now too or were before me (including girls) so I think just normal flu. I did have flu shot but like seaguy said it isn't as effective this year as it has been in the past. I think maybe I'm just recovering from the flu still. I still feel tired/worn out just doing normal things so I guess I just need to give it a week or two to clear. Daddy wanted to mess around by I told him I was still feeling a bit sick and tired, so he came over to take care of me. Helped me to the shower and was just a slow wash and kissing. Was nice but slow. Then helped me shower and ran to get food. Just cuddled tonight and he sucked me off (I was too tired to really do anything to him and he was ok with that.) Slept for a bit but woke up with fever again so on internet for a bit until drugs work and in living room so I don't wake him up. So it does seem it's just the flu that is causing decrease in sex drive and loss of energy.
