I am just wondering if BAREBACK SEX is generally viewed as taboo by the majority of the gay community? I have noticed that there are tons of sites which feature bareback sex. There are many sites which were once condom only but have recently started to feature bareback sex. Do you think that eventually ALL gay sites will be bareback? There are gay hook-up sites where members say they only practice safe sex, however, it has been my experience that those "safe sex" guys WILL bareback. Actually, every "safe sex" guy I have encountered has gone bare with me. I have also heard guys on here talk about how "safe sex" guys end up having bare sex. So, why do they say they only practice safe sex? Why not just admit to being a barebacker? Do you think there are more guys barebacking than having safe sex? So, is there still a general stigma attached to barebacking even though it seems that the majority of gay guys are barebacking? I'd like your thoughts on this matter.

It's honestly becoming more and more mixed as of lately.  Hell, I've played with some guys who originally said that they play safe, YET they also play bare.  It's honestly one of the things that there will still be the people who'll shame others for not using a condom, but more are starting to be ok with playing bare.

It's starting to be like it's 50/50 as of lately, and even for me, it's confusing as hell.

Every guy I hook up with on A4A or BBRT always bareback. Even the safe sex only guys. Maybe it's where I live or travel, but I don't see guys using condoms anymore.

There doesn't seem to be much talk about condoms anymore.  When I meet a guy, they may have a condom on the table beside the bed, but not once has one put one on either him or ask me to put it on.  At the same time, status is never discussed.  Lube and go!

As for the people that talk about status, all are ok with bareback.  They know the risks and are ok with it.  Maybe it has to do with the advancements in medicine.  I've only got one guy who absolutely demands a condom.  ONE.  Everyone else I have gone raw.

Yep, bareback has returned in a BIG way! I wonder how long it will be before ALL gay sites start producing bareback videos? Yep, there are some out there that are STILL wrapping cocks! On the other hand, I have noticed that not only is there more bareback BUT breeding scenes are becoming more prolific; AWESOME!!!  :P

Yeah... Seems most guys are fucking raw... rarely have anyone talk condoms or ask to use... may be because I'm young n fit or whatever though but most daddies don't care anymore. they must be cool w being pozzed

I`m new to being gay. I did a lot of thinking as I was getting these feelings that I wanted have sex with men. I did give a lot of thought to whether I would want a guy to put a condom on before he fucked me. I decided that I never want a guy to have a condom on. Bareback only for me like it should be. Of coarse the next thought was of using PReP or anything like that and I again decided no. If I`m doing this it will be all naturel and for real. I am very glad I made those decisions first and got that out of the way. Now it`s time to fuck and have fun!!! Let it happen.

In porn bareback is the norm

It's still in my experience taboo to advertise/say you bareback (on the general sites: a4a, grindr, etc).

But it's not taboo to actually fuck bare. many of the same guys that would give a lecture about barebacking will get turned on and fuck bare. I think since it wasn't talked about/written down they can say (in their mind) it was a slip up of a good guy vs being a dirty barebacker who does this all the time (even if in actuality they rarely use condoms).

Most guys will fuck bare if they're into you and the sex clicks. But having an out and out bareback profile on the main sites will stop people from contacting you (but you'll also have to deal with saying, "Your profile says safe only - and I say bare only - WTF?" issues).

It is not taboo to fuck bareback if you know with whom you are fucking.   I fuck bareback with my partner and have for over five years.  We used protection for the first year and after a year of testing both negative we started to bareback and have ever since.  We do not play with anyone outside our relationship for the very reason that we want to live long lives and never become infected with the HIV virus.  The availability of the new meds is no excuse for random bareback as they do not work on everyone and they have serious consequences to your internal organs when taken over time.

I see people saying they are not sure if they are POZ or not.  I would say to them, GET TESTED.  This is nothing to play around with and no matter what the outcome, you can decide how you want to live your life.   At least you will know if it would become dangerous for your partners if it turns out your are positive and it's best to be totally honest with people about your status and let them decide if they want to go to bed with you.

Fucking with a condom ( an oxymoron if ever there was one) has always been taboo in my book - the only taboo that I will not cross.

I would say yes, it's still a taboo, but in the same way that rimming is a taboo, and being naked in public is a taboo. Something society says is wrong becomes exciting to do, to rebel against. Being a taboo is what makes it exciting and a turn on. The fantasy of raw fucking will, I feel, be a turn on even to the guys who use condoms, even if their fear of possible consequences for their health or reputation means they use condoms, and won't admit it.

I think admitting to barebacking is more of a taboo than actually doing it. Guys are happy to do it; they just don't want people to know they do it.

Its about 50/50 for me as well. I don't go sideways if a top wants to use a condom; I sort of have this organic approach to just letting things happen on their own.
