what's the appeal of nazi fetishism?

Boots, leather, uniforms and BDSM.   The current gay leather/BDSM scene developed after World War II and much of it, especially the look, was originally based on the whole Nazi military uniform/discipline culture.

Its something I used to sort of understand it in our community, fetishes come in all shapes. Now things being how they are, I am baffled... Its almost stomach turning. But, I guess in line with a poz fetish being somewhat self destructive, objectifying nazis is also self destructive. We would have marched into camps along side anyone who wasn't Aryan... And would again.

Why they fetishized the Nazis instead of another group I think is because Nazi soldiers were hypermasculine, disciplined and abhorred weakness and effeminacy - like Tom of Finland’s sexy drawings which date from the same time.  I don’t believe anyone in the post-WWII leather/BDSM scene was ever interested in the Nazis’ political or social ideologies.

I don't know... In my darkest internet holes I have stumbled on tumblrs that would lead me to believe differently. I certainly presume/hope you are more right than not. But I am not confident

I think the fringe stuff you see on Tumblr is just that:  fringe stuff.  Before social media fringe ideas didn’t have a readily available means of mass communication.  Now you can post pretty much whatever you want online and it’s instantly searchable so others can easily find it - even when a site takes the stuff down it was still out there and has still been seen.  So it’s more visible now but it’s definitely still fringe and unless you’re looking for it, you’re probably still not going to see it.  If I’m surfing pornhub I can find slamvids but I have to search for them; most people aren’t into them and won’t be looking.  Does that make sense?

The oversized military hats of North Korea, the blousing of trouser legs in the US  forces, the goose stepping still done in China, are all nonfunctional affectations, or, fetishes. Real combat uniforms like the armor, goggles and helmet of US troops, the black pajamas of the Viet Cong and the camo fatigues in Latin America are attempts at being functional.

Exactly.  If a uniform is merely ceremonial or ornamental and no longer functional it’s really just another form of drag.

White guys, mostly, making suppositions about extreme rights political views.

Lets change nazi fetish for KKK fetish.

" KKKK man are more masculine than others man." Are you ok with this?

The way we view the sentence changes, isn't?

Those guys enjoy nazi ideology.

They sexualize groups as a inferior persons.

I have suffered prejudice from a nazi support at the nasty, bareback and kinky foruns.

We shouldn't support this!

Some nazi supporters says Hitler was ok with being gay!

You should be ashamed of minimize a symbol that represent a scary ideology and that is hurtfull to many people!

For you white americans people an uniform can be a drag thing

But to me as a latin american is a symbol of power and violence.

I am scary of the police! The latin american boots gives me fear!

To say it is a drag thing you are exercising you white privilege.

You didn't learned to fear police.

Papi nací en cuba y si - temo a la policía.  Muchísimo.  The difference in the US is that America has not had fascist or communist regimes in power so the fetish people here have with BDSM and uniforms does not carry the same political attachment and inspire the same fear it does in Europe or Latin America.  Es cosa totalmente distinto y diferente.  The origins of the modern gay leather and BDSM in the US may have been from the nazis but it does not include nazi politics or ideology.

And NO everybody knows Hitler was not OK with being gay. He imprisoned, tortured and murdered gays.

I find the whole Nazi-fetish thing 'disturbing'. But then, some of us have a family history, ethnic background or a very brutally real reason to feel that way...

And the Nazis knew how to dress.... HUGO BOSS!!! A gullible homo would have fallen for all that glitz and leather!

But for the historical record, back in the 1930's, just like ONCE AGAIN TODAY (in the US) there are lots of elitist gays who fall or fell for that strong-man-thing. Sadly, I know quite a few of them! They don't realize that in the initial phase of seizing power, the (rustic German)  log cabin gays are nothing more than 'useful idiots' for the inner core of the 'movement'. The SA, 'brown-shirts' lead by Ernst Roehm were a convenient brotherhood for lost souls and frustrated WWI veterans (who in 1933 would still all be in their early to mid 30's) and supposedly at its very core the SA was very homo-erotic. Ernst Roehm was the 'biggest' homo of them all and supposedly Hitler's political mentor. Hitler harbored a deep contempt for his mentor, maybe because of Roehm's earlier sexual advances. And within about a year of seizing power, Hitler decided that the SA with their rude, loud behavior and sexual exploits were a liability for the prudish conservative establishment. In the middle of summer of 1934 he tricked the upper ranks of the SA to gather up for big 'event' in a hotel in Munich where they supposedly celebrated (as usual) had gay orgies and getting drunk.

The SS and Gestapo led by Hitler PERSONALLY surprised them all in the early morning hours, with the brown shirts probably with their pants down, and Hitler had them all arrested on trumped up charges. Most were later executed and Roehm given a gun (in his cell) with orders to kill himself.

Long story short: that event came to be known as The NIGHT of the Long KNIVES. The SA was outlawed and from then on the Nazis had a virulent NO TOLERANCE policy to 'perversion' and homosexuality criminalized with an existing legal code 'Paragraph 175' (long story...) Anyways, gays from then on could be arrested on mere suspicion and were sent to Dachau where many were castrated, killed, tortured or died through misery.... that's where the pink triangle came in. The movie CABARET is a stunning dramatization of the time: sexually liberated Berlin turning ugly as the jack-booted Nazis would show to intimidate.

Supposedly after the war, when concentration camp victims were liberated, the Allies IMMEDIATELY had gays rearrested and sent to prison AGAIN. So NOT SO CUTE ANYMORE when you know all that...
