My observation has been LGBT hate Republicans a lot more than Republicans "hate" gays. Every election year, the same old same old scare tactics get rolled out. "George Bush will put LGBT in concentration camps." "Mike Pence will electrocute gay teens." I'm politically independent and moderate; I just find the scare tactics, frankly, an insult to my intelligence.

One side effect of the current national obsession with race is that it denies diversity within races. Not all people within a race are the same. It is perfectly possible to feel attracted by someone who presents like Richard Ayoade and repulsed by someone like street trash and vice versa. Everyone has a type. Strictly limiting yourself to a type or categorically eliminating a type is of course within a person's right because everyone has a right to sexual autonomy. Although doing either is going to limit one's experiences and probably result in missing out on some good fun.

Disagree. Preferences are a way to keep people from wasting their time (and limited messages) on people who aren't interested. If a guy has a profile with picky preferences, I move on; probably too uptight to be a good lay anyway. And guys who screech "Don't even look at me if you're..." are like a giant red flag for psychological issues. (I don't want to get with guys who come across as psychological dumpster fires. Does that make me a bigot?)

It's also a function of what sort of traffic I would encounter and the neighborhood. Happy to drive out into the countryside for a romp, but there are parts of cities that are no-go for me.
