Tumblr was doomed the moment Verizon bought Yahoo. Verizon ordered the porn purge as soon as the deal was done. There was no way the stockholders would permit Verizon becoming the largest distributor of online porn. I'm surprised that Verizon didn't just shutdown Tumblr. Tumblr never made money, and Verizon didn't care about it at all.

What they should have done is sell Tumblr and start a PG-rated clone. The price for Tumblr would have been a pretty penny back then, before they destroyed its value.

I stopped using tumblr when I ran across cp and realized the site was a haven for pedophiles. Since the purge many of them migrated to twitter and twitter seems to protect them by suspending and banning accounts that point out whats going on.

Tumblr was wonderful, I never found a site that had so much amateur gay sex material again, it's a shame they ended up with the site.
