My experience was limited to places in/around Philly, and I discovered the Adonis when I was around 25-26. Was cool because it had a couple of levels before you got back into the actual dark room. I liked the idea behind the sign in the smaller venue I visited, I'm paraphrasing since I don't remember exactly what it said but it was a long the lines of "groping room, no lights, no phones, no talking, no attitude, grope and have fun", and even better it seemed to be working. They had the room completely dark for the Thursday night party and semidark for Sunday noon. Honestly I don't know if a sign like that would make a difference in a club that had a lot of stand and pose guys.
