The problem with age verification, as it is generally practiced, is that it mandates disclosure of the identity of the person accessing the material. In the United States, the courts have generally held that adults have a First Amendment right to read/view any legal material without providing identification. (Libraries can require a card to check out books, etc., but that's more to verify your eligibility to borrow, rather than your right to read - you can go into any public library here, even in places where you don't live and have no library borrowing privileges, and read whatever books you want within the library.) Coupled with this is the fact that you can rest assured once some age-verification service (whether run by the site directly, or, more likely, an outside service it utilizes under contract) has your identifying information, the service will undoubtedly cross-reference your identity not only with what you view on that site, but with any other "big data" it can match up. So you can imagine the data hacks that such services will absolutely bring about. 3 2 2 Quote

Ironic that I have to use a "sex" site to find everyday learning 🤔🧐😵💫😘. 1 1 Quote
badjamie Posted Thursday at 08:26 PM Report Posted Thursday at 08:26 PM Get decent VPN software. I have been using Proton VPN (free version) for several years without a hitch. Quote

Totally agree, the risk that these ‘services’ might be hacked and the fallout from that or governments asking to see who is in the list the consequences are too horrendous to contemplate, I certainly will not submit such details to any site that asks for age verification 1 Quote

Twitter (X) for one, they had become a site where nobody could be honest, funny, sarcastic for fear of inciting the ire of the moderators. I was banned from Twitter for commenting, very "tongue in cheek" that protesters blocking a freeway could be dispersed by a motor vehicle failing to stop. The next week they allowed a video of a vicious stabbing of clergy in Sydney 🇦🇺. Tumblr is not too bad but, conversations are still very impersonal & you are not able to get a personal affinity with followers, like on BZ. Blueskye I also developing into a rather personable site for quality interaction but, still early days. 1 Quote
PozBearWI Posted Friday at 03:24 PM Report Posted Friday at 03:24 PM You're not alone @Erik62, I was banned from Twitter as well. And it was never clear why. I kind of viewed it as a badge of honor though, Twitter becoming the cesspool known as X. I'm finding Bluesky pretty good although I am only a month or two into use of it. Quote

ellentonboy Posted Friday at 03:58 PM Report Posted Friday at 03:58 PM I thought I just heard that the Supreme Court is not going to mess with this ban on adult sites and kicked it back to the states? I thought I heard Alito got a real laugh out of it, asking how there was any way this was going to be enforced. Will this mean some states will lift their bans? He pointed out that parents should be responsible for the conduct of their under 18 year old children, I got the feeling it was "well kids are going to find it anyway" theory from him. All I have to say to the conservatives on the Supreme Court - VPN. Say it again - VPN! I live in Florida and Governor DeSatan is too stupid to realize that there is always going to be a way around any block they try to put up. I strongly believe that there are two things that will never go out of business - booze and porn. You don't have to partake if you don't like it but it's always going to be accessible. 1 Quote

(A nice win thanks to FSC). Bad News: Florida has now been added to the block list. Related to that - even porn production is illegal in Florida (and has been for a while). And a reminder that we'll have a better idea of where all this is headed end of day on the 15th after the Supreme Court hears FSC v Paxton. I just read this post from the beginning of the month and you said production of porn has been Illegal in Florida for quite some time. Well that is news to me because I know during 2023 Raw Fuck Club was filming in south Florida. I recognize jacuzzi and shower areas used in the filming of one group scene, I have been in that jacuzzi a number of times. Maybe this was on an OF account I saw that was downloaded but I am almost certain Raw Fuck Club has filmed in Florida, at least in 2023. Hope I got that wrong, they shot a lot of material, but the video I saw (and I could kick myself for deleting it) had a number of group scenes where a lot of Spanish was being spoken. Now some could argue that could be anywhere in the US BUT I HAVE BEEN in that jacuzzi and that was in south Florida. So if I am correct, how did they get around that, cause that place was awfully busy when I was there. 1 Quote
Moderators viking8x6 Posted Friday at 07:31 PM Moderators Report Posted Friday at 07:31 PM What I glean from the internet is that prostitution is illegal in Florida, and some authoritarian parties are making a legal argument that pornography production constitutes prostitution because people receive money in exchange for sex. It does not appear that the Florida legislature has specifically addressed the question of pornography production, apart from a "revenge porn" law similar to those in many other states. https://www.miaminewtimes.com/news/is-filming-porn-illegal-in-florida-6393610 2 Quote

I can't see them finding every house, apartment or motel room where people are filming porn, it's just not feasible and I believe law enforcement has more serious things on their hands than consenting individuals allowing themselves to be filmed having sex.
